I run Vista 64. I play CivIV via Steam. my pc is well above any specs needed to run civ iv, plenty of HD space. I have both expansions and it is patched up to 3.19. The shortcut gives an error and loads up regular Civ IV. Civ IV itself works flawlessly. I have tried everything. I have re-downloaded, and re-installed all games patches, ffh, etc. i have made sure the file paths are correct. i also cant see my mods from the in game folder, even tho i can see them in windows. ive looked at nearly every post on here, perhaps i have overlooked 1 or 2. nothing has worked for me. i need help! i will fish out any info that you may need to help me. this mod looks and sounds really fun! thanks!

The shortcut gives an error and loads up regular Civ IV.
Which shortcut? What error does it give? What is the target of the shortcut (please provide full path & filename, plus any parameters passed to the target by the shortcut).

i have made sure the file paths are correct.
What is the full path to your "Beyond the Sword" folder? What is the full path to your "Fall from Heaven 2" folder?

i also cant see my mods from the in game folder, even tho i can see them in windows.
Please post a screenshot of your mods folder, with the path displayed, and a screenshot of your "Fall from Heaven 2" folder, with the path displayed.

1. I'm sorry for the lack of info. it's the FFH shortcut. "Mods\Fall from Heaven 2 \ is an invalid mod directory, ignoring" That's the exact error I get when trying to open the shortcut.

Target: "C:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization iv beyond the sword\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" mod=\Fall from Heaven 2

Start in: "C:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization iv beyond the sword\Beyond the Sword\Mods"

That is from the "properties" for the FFH shortcut. I am not 100% what parameters there might be and where I need to find them, let me know how to get more info on this if needed.

2. The exact route to my bts folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization iv beyond the sword\Beyond the Sword

The exact route to my FFH folder: C:\program files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\sid meier's civilization iv beyond the sword\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Fall from Heaven 2

3. I don't have a SS program, and really never messed with one. If I really have to, I will find one to use (any recommendations?). Anyway, I can assure you my mods folder and FFH folder look EXACTLY like they are suppose to according to another post on here that I went through extensively. The poster seemed to have had the exact same problem. If you really need the SSs please let me know.

The shortcut itself appears to be fine, so please post screenshots of your mods and Fall from Heaven 2 folders. A screenshot of your Beyond the Sword folder would also be helpful. Sorry to ask for so much information, but I don't have the Steam version of the game and it apparently does some strange things.

Windows copies an image of the screen to the clipboard when you press the <Print Screen> (the name may be abbreviated, such as "PrtSc") key. Then you need to load an image manipulation program (even Paint will work; I assume that W7 still includes it), paste the image from the clipboard (Edit -> Paste), and then save it.

Also, you mentioned another thread where someone else was reporting the same problem. Please add a link to that thread, or tell me the name of it, so that I can take a look.

Ah, I remember that now. Unfortunately, I never fully understood how Siderealex corrected the problem. He said that he added a " at the end, but not of what. I assume he's talking about the target line of the shortcut, but it's not clear if somehow the " after Civ4BeyondSword.exe was missing or if he added a third " at the very end. I don't see how the shortcut could have been made without the second ", and I don't see how a third " would fix anything, so I'm at a loss to explain the solution. I guess you could try adding a third " and see what happens.

Your folders all look fine, as you said, so I'm not sure of the cause of this problem. You said that your mods don't appear in-game, so something isn't right. Load up BtS (w/o FfH2), and at the main menu click ADVANCED, then LOAD A MOD. What options are listed there? If any mods are listed, are you able to select one and load it successfully?

I was confused like that as well. I'm not 100% sure what he meant with the extra ".

Yes, I have gone into the advanced>mods and successfully loaded up all that i have tried(of course FFH2 isn't showing up there). but if you go to single player > load game nothing is listed under mods. in any of the trees throughout. I have the Civ IV Complete from steam.

When you go into "load a game" the only files that appear are saved game files. Other files are not shown. Even if they were, you wouldn't be able to load a mod like that.

Since Civ4 isn't listing FfH2 as a mod there must be some problem with how it is installed, but I can't see the cause. Perhaps the Steam version of Civ4 is picky in some way that I don't comprehend. Make sure the FfH2 folder is named "Fall from Heaven 2" (ie no extra spaces). Change the target in your shortcut to match the exact case of the path (ie "Program Files (x86)" rather than "program files (x86)"). I'm just grasping at straws at this point.

Maybe someone who has this working on Steam can chime in and enlighten us with a solution.

well, i went into civ iv one more time and there it was, under advanced > mods (i looked at that 100 times before, i know i didnt miss it). it was after i dl'ed the new windows updates, but it didnt look like any of the updates would have changed anything about this situation...but it works just fine now. the shortcut still doesnt work, but the game works fine. thanks for your help!
