can't get game to run

i've tried disabling intro movie (i can watch that but cashes as soon as over). i've tried updating drivers to no avail. i've tried reinstalling the game. nothing works.
i'm running AMD athlon x64 with win xp service pack 3, 2 gb ram, navidia GE 9800. any suggestions?

In My Documents\My Games\Civ5, there should be some .ini files (you can open them with rightclick, open with Wordpad/notepad).
There somewhere should be full screen and/or windowed mode be mentioned.
I can't be more precise, i don't have Civ5 here.

If you are unsure what to do exactly, then copy the content of the .ini files here, i'll give you further advice.
