I'm using Civ 5, and I created a map. With the map in the Civilization 5/Maps folder, I could find the map and play on it fine. But I want to upload the mod, so I look at Kael's Moddersguide. It says to open up ModBuddy and move the map file into my new mod. i've done that, and I can no longer find my map when setting up a game and picking a map.

So far, all i've done to the mod is add the name and description, then choose "Project>Add existing item", and selected the map. Then I hit "Build>Build Westeros(the name of my map)".

What have i done wrong?

I don't have an answer to your question, but I'd certainly like to see your Westeros map!

Started a Westeros map, then decided to do a forum search to check if someone else had already done one haha.

Known Issue. Even thou you have Packed your map into a mod for upload to other users, when they Install said Map, it is stored in:-

Documents/My Games/Civ5/Mods/(ModName)/Maps or
Documents/My Games/Civ5/Mods/(ModName)

Unfortunatly CIV5 does not search these folders for maps, only:-

Documents/My Games/Civ5/Maps

So you have to move the map yourself to the corect Maps folder for the Game to pick it up. Hope that helps.

You can probably see them if, when you start the game, you click Mods, click away the warning message which warns you in red that mods may be dangerous. Then you can see your map, but only in SP. It's just about 3 more clicks everytime you start the game, it looks like some lawyer wanted to make using mods a pain.

If a mod includes a map, then you will need the mod enabled to load it. Once you have the mod enabled it will show up when you go to "setup game".

If you put it in the Civ5/Maps folder then try to play it without the mod enabled you will experience crashes because its looking for assets that aren't there (if the map/mod contains any new data at all).

You must be thinking of just purely maps that don't contain any mods at all, those can go in Civ5/Maps without a problem. They can also go into the MODS/YOURMOD/Maps folder and they will show up, so long as you have the mod enabled.
