I am trying to install Rome Total War on my computer right now, but it keeps giving me the

"Error 1305.Error reading from file C:/Program/Activision/Rome - Total War\Data\sounds\Voice2.dat. Verify the file exist and that you can access it."

I have installed this game on this computer before no problem, but now, I have this error. I don't think its the CD because I never touched anything inside before.

I am also having this problem with installing WC3 (old but I wanted to try it).

I think I might be having this with any game I'm installing. Can anyone please help me?

It sounds to me like there's something dodgy with the CD drive/CD which is causing it to write a corrupt file. Either that or there's something wrong with your hard drive causing it to write a corrupt file.

Either way, I think it's writing a corrupt file.

I'd run chkdsk (start --> run --> "chkdsk"), which should hopefull pick up any problems with your hard drive.

You guys won't believe this. I went online, typed in the error, and found a list of things that could of caused the problem. On the top of the list, they ask us to clean the cd/dvd. I did, and tried it again, and... it worked. I feel like the dumbest guy in the planet
