Can't see map inprovements or forests nor resources

I seem to have done something to the game so that resourses and improvements like farms or mines even villages do not show up on the map. I can't see forest either. Units and cities are visible.

I have search through options and the manual trying to figure out what i changed to cause this problem. I must be missing something I know when the game first came out I could see these objects on the map. I stopped playing for ages because I had issues with teh game crashing in 1.00.

I was cleaning up files on my computer when i found the firaxis folder and realised I never uninstalled the game so I search for any patches and found one then started the game up. No stability problem now but now I can't see tile improvents and resources.

Running a 2.0G Dual core system
2 gigs Ram
windows xp sp2
x1600 pro ati graphics card with 512megs of ram

This system should be more then powerful enough to run the game and I saw the map features before in 1.00 but not anymore. unfortunetly I didn't run 1.00 recently as i just looked for a patch installed it and then ran it. So i do not know if I toggled some kind of option or I'm having a technical issue or what.

Can anyone help me resoulve this?

well, a re-install would seem a good idea to me, remembering to make a copy of your Saves folder (or remembering to uncheck it when uninstalling).

See what it's like in 1.0 again, and then try reinstalling the patch.

One thing: what about water effects? Is your sea strangely flat? if so it may be similar to something I experienced recently, but should still be fixed with a re-install...

The sea is a bit flat I can see some white caps but they don't appear to have any height to them. I can see the shore line rising and falling when I soo right up and I can see the rpids on rivers but for the most part the see does seem flat. I will try the re-install.

Now I just have to hunt for the other cds, hahaha. Been ages since I cracked this game open.

Edit: crap I found the first cd easy as its in my cd rack for all my games that require a cd to run but the 2nd and third is on walk about somewhere. Its just the three cds I'm looking for right? two game cds and the third, wasn't that just documentation? Or am I thinking of a different game or maybe an earlier version of civilization?

Bloody hell it is a DVD I spent 2 1/2 hour looking and then gave up. I just came back online before bed and read your responce. I must be getting old if its not a 5 1/4" or a 3 1/2" floppy its magic tech to me. Here I was searching for the other cds and I had the DVD in the drive.

I'll install this baby tomorrow and see if it works ta.
