Can't see opponent's research

Hi

Does anyone know why I can't see an opponents research even after the espionage points are high enough for this to happen. The truth is, I do not know where to look for it, none of the pop up advisor screens have this information.
Can anyone help?

The tech your opponents are researching will show up next to the opponents' names and scores, in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, once you have enough espy points against that opponent. If you dont see the names of your opponents down there, you must have them hidden. One of the buttons in the right hand corner will unhide them.

This kind of defeats the object of being able to hide the list in the first place.
