Can't see the in-game buttons anymore

After installing the newest Civ4 patch, I can't see any of the in-game menus/buttons anymore. Everything is gone, from the advisor buttons to the unit orders menu at the bottom.

Also, the units won't follow the commands I give with my keyboard anymore. They won't fortify, build new cities or anything - leaving the game unplayable at best.
Does anyone know how to get these menus/buttons back?

I was thinking about downloading new graphics drivers, but I can't find them on the ATI site (I have a HP pavilion zv5000 with an ATI Radeon 9000IGP graphics card). Can anyone help me out please? I'm desperate here

I had the same problem. I uninstalled and did a search to delete remaining civ 4 files. Then reinstalled game and patch and it went away. Dunno why it did but try it.

Would that make my hall of fame go away as well? Cause I'd rather keep that one...
