As you have said, you signed that treaty with the people of the United States. Thus, by breaking that treaty due to changing politics in the United States (and do note that the Scott government had the support of civilian militias, an element of civil American society, without which the Scott government would not exist), you betray the American people, seeing as it is merely a defensive treaty in the event that a foreign power seeks to harm the United States or British holdings in the Americas. And your uncouth remark about the government of the United States certainly will not be overlooked.
