Through its actions, it seems that the people of the Ascendant Kingdom of China are not humans, but devils, whose only task is to destroy civilization and kill each other with as much carnage as possible. However, we are people who try to think the best of others, and wish to give you one chance. But only one.
By this message, we warn you that, should you not pay restitution of the lifes lost in your attacks against the Spanish port of Zhoushan, as well as restore said holding to us, before the next year is through, we fear that we will have no choice but to declare war against the Ascendant Kingdom of China and strive to fight it until it concedes defeat.
We hope also that the nations of Netherlands, Scandinavia and United Kingdom join us in this ultimatum, as they were equally affected by the Ascendant Kingdom of China's barbaric attacks, and we invite any other nation interested in this to join us in the punishment of the Ascendant Kingdom of China.

After seeing the specter of a rising civil war on the horizon, I choose to step down and formally name General Alfred Scott as Vice President and my successor. General Scott has assured me that elections will take place, and I wish to tell all the American people that I have only done what I have felt right for the United States. Regardless, I, and those like-minded in the House and Senate, have agreed to formally accept Scott's demands unconditionally. I urge the dissidents in Florida, the northeast, and in the territories to accept Scott's demands and return to the Union before such time comes that our farms, towns, and forests are bathed in bloody.

Though this conspiracy to name Alfred Scott as Vice President and the subsequently force President Taylor to step down seems as though it was a very well thought out plan, in reality, it has adds absolutely no legitimacy to the criminal faction that is currently illegally occupying the District of Columbia. As Mr. Scott seems to have forgotten, the Vice President of the United States is an elected position, and if there is to be a change to the office in the middle of a term, the new candidate must first be approved of by Congress. Furthermore, as Congress cannot be in session at this time, there is no one to accept the President Taylor's resignation, meaning for all legal purposes, Arthur Tyler remains the President of the United States. However, as the current President is, admittedly, seemingly no longer able to perform his duties (as a result of being held hostage by a group of usurpers) the duties of Acting President now fall to the legitimate Vice President of the United States*.
*OOC: I don't know who that would be or if they are even available. In the eyes of the Gubernatorial Council, the position of Acting President simply falls to the highest government official who is loyal to us, since any disloyal official is viewed as compromised.
