Car hits place where Bush gave speech; Bush not hurt.

I'm going to be very interested to find out this driver's story, well interested for five minutes or so.

Isn't it illegal to leave the scene of an accident? The President should be arrested...

By golly, you're right...President Bush should get the Justice Dept. to investigate................himself? :hmm:

Damn!

That's interesting, because if (God forbid) Bush and Cheney were assasinated, a guy who no one has ever heard of would be President.
You have to be pretty well insulated from politics not to have heard of office of Speaker of the House. Many paople amy not be familiar with the current holder of the office, but the office itself is well known. Any politically attentive person will know Hasert though. His job is too high profile not to be seen. The President Tempore of the Senate is a truly obscure person.

What's with the grief toward Cheney? During the election in 2000, no less a voice than Doonesbury was openly suggesting that everyone would be better if Bush let Cheney have the job. If there is a more competent and better respected person in Washington, save the President himself and maybe Colin Powell, I would like to know who he/she is.

PS The car has been examined by mechanics and is being held for observation. The condidtion is not consider drive threatening.

That's the point; there probably isn't. :snicker: I guess that says more about Washington than the current Administration.

I'm just glad that Tom Ridge is low on the list

I remember reports on TV and radio in the spring saying how there were attempts to get Ridge much higher in the line of succession. Never followed up on it, so I don't know where these attempts led. But their line of reasoning was "Well, if it's a crisis, would you rather trust the Agriculture Secretary or someone who knows about defending the Homeland?"

The car hit the place where Bush was and not Bush? Damn!
