My sig hasn't been updated in a week or so, but the current mileage of my Ford Escort is 99951.5. Right now I have about a little less than 1/4 tank, which is good for maybe 30 miles. My morning commute is 21.3 miles, and so is the return(obviously). By looking at my gas mileage averages, and the current price of gas, I need about $1.34 to get to and from school tomorrow. I've got 74 cents. And I just paid 60 cents in library fines today.

Anyway, my bad luck aside(damn calendar didn't have a "3", it had two "2"s) what's the kinda mileage on the cars you people drive? Anyone close to "rolling over"? Any tips on where I can find 60 cents by 7 am?(NO, I already checked the couch).

Check under the seats and mats in your car. There's always some change there. Oh yeah... I get like somewhere around 26-28 mpg I think. I dunno.

Well, I was talking more about the Odometer reading than gas mileage(i think there was a thread on that a few months back too)

And I already spent that monday, to fill up with what i thought would be enough for the week.

Oh, sorry. I'm really braindead today. :/ I just hit 20,000 not very long ago at all.

I use a 1987 Plymouth Voyager that has over 199k miles. It's oooooold.

My 1987 volvo has 220k km / 150k miles.

The FIAT's odometer sais 10k.... (kilometers) It only has 5 digits......

I 'turned it around' a year ago I don't have any idea on its total milage.

As the engine was completely revised last year, it doesn't matter anyway.

'86 Oldsmobile. ~65k miles. 18-20 mpg. Damn 3.7 liter V-6.

My dad had a '88 Toyota Camry with about 275k miles, original engine, drivetrain and etc. Nice little car, til it got rear-ended 2 months ago and bent the frame.

'94 Grand Prix. I think I'm up around 80k miles, I do mostly highway driving with it and get up to 30 mpg on good days.

96 Ford Mustang GT, 4.6L V8, 100k miles on it. my gas mileage sucks on the streets but is halfway decent on the highway.

'92 Mercury tracer, about 91,000 miles on it now. And the gas mileage even at that age is mid-30s mpg, better than I ever get on a brand new compact rental. Disappointing that fuel efficiency progress over the last ten years is nil.

I drive a 96 Neon which gets a good 35 mpg on the highway. I drop down to 25-30 mpg in the city.

As for the odometer ... I just celebrated 207K this morning. I'm expecting at least another 40k from the engine before the pistons give the cylinders their last kiss but with the good maintenance I've been giving her I might see her life expectancy meet parity with her Japanese counterparts. Seems as though American auto engineering is catching up to the imports.

I've got my eye on an early 90's Mercedes E-Class for my next ride. Cheap buy, expensive parts and one helluva nice car. The fuel efficienty ain't too bad either. Even with 200 K on the odometer they're known to last well past their 400th.

Well, I didn't need to worry about running out of gas, because school was cancelled due to the snowstorm and now I've got $5 from shoveling.

Good deal Qwerty! :goodjob: I can't believe you drive 21 miles a day to school, that's alot!

My car mileage has been 0 since I crashed it this summer. I'm back to getting around by bike. I'd say my bike mileage is about 900 miles, give or take, since I came to Florida ('bout 3 months ago). It's hard to say exactally because my odoometer stopped working at 600 about a month ago.

I must say, it is indeed inconvienient not to have a car but it is fulfilling in a way as well. People are always amazed when I tell them I don't drive, like I'm some transplanted 3rd worlder or something.

Believe me, I would bike if i could. But 21 miles just doesn't cut it for me, or my bike(i'd put 900 on within a month). Over the summer(the early months) I had a somewhat regular course that I rode on, took me up and down a few fairly steep hills, and was about 2.4 miles the entire thing(a big circle around town). and i did this about 3-4 days a week. Then college came up and i needed to get 40 hours of driving in so i wouldn't have to have a parent in the car while driving to school.

I hope everything worked out okay for you, QwertySoft.
Answering your questions about cars and gas mileage,
I have a couple of Porsches. One is a 1989 Turbo, has 103K miles, and gets about 25 mpg. The other is a 1990 S2, has 142K miles, and gets about 25 mpg, as well.
