New England will win. They are on a 14 game tear and will continue it against an upstart Carolina squad.

Carolina runs a very simple power running game. Fancy coverages don't do much to stop that.

New England likes to throw it and lacks a good running game. Carolina's pass rush is very effective and the corners held up well against the talented St. Louis receivers.

I don't think either team will manage much offense, but I like the way Carolina matches up. Both teams can play D, but only 1 can run the football.

I pick Carolina in a close, physical one. (translation: a GOOD one)

With Old England winning the Rugby World Cup, I am sure New England can win the American Rugby Superbowl. ;) Maybe it is the year for England all round. :)

I think I might watch it for the first time in years. I will need to record it though and watch it the next day so I can fast forward through those interminable stops and adverts. Also, it starts at about 11pm here iirc which is way past my bed time.

New England has more weapons than St. Louis at Reciever. 5 WR, 2 TE, 2 HB, FB they all catch and thats why they throw. If Carolina can't get pressure they will sink. New England doesn't have a fancy coverage. They play all types of Defense. Versitility is the key to the perfect defense. They have that and they can stuff any offense in the league. Need I mention Manning?

I do agree about the close game and the lack of offense for either team. It will be a great ugly game of defense hitting hard. I don't need to say who I picked do I?

EDIT: Oh yeah, and the Pats defense hits hard and moves quick. That isn't good for any running game.

I want Carolina to win. I think it will be difficult running the ball though. Having said that they can't abandon the run and ask Delhomme to win the game. If the Panthers stick with their running game they could sneak it, if they start airing it out, it could get ugly.
17-14 To the panthers if they stick to their running game.
45-10 To the Patriots if the Panthers start throwing.

New England wins. 29-29 with 0:09 seconds left in the fourth, Adam Vinateri kicks a field goal to make it 32-29. Hmmmm, where have we seen this before. :)

Stupid Patriots!!! Why couldn't have Vinateri kept up his trend from earlier in the game and knock it wide right??

    Grrrr.....

What a game!!! That was the best Superbowl I've ever seen. Game winning field goal with 9 seconds left in a tie game. It doesn't get any better than that.

Me too. But NE deserved it. They played better when it mattered most...

Terrific game. The only unfortunate part of it was that Vinatieri kicked the winning field goal - now here in New England we're probably going to see him whoring himself out in even more television commercials (he was already doing some for cars and furniture, and they were REALLY badly written).

I love the Pats and I love Vinatieri's foot, but I think he missed that first field goal so he could try to keep the score close and be a hero again by kicking the winning field goal.

I'm glad I don't have to see those commercials if their that bad.
