Castles In MTW2

I have MTW2 and when I play castle battles and I am defending it always bothers me that you cant actually fight in the castle itself, only in the layers of walls surrounding it. The actual caslte/fortress structure is only scenery, but in real life the castle was where all the troops fought. This really dissapoints me, as I was hoping to be able to see castle sieges with drawbridges being raised and such. In MTW2, you cant even send archers on top of the castles.
