After almost 2 years of active SGing I figured it was time to launch one myself.
The AW game and ungy07 seems to be doing well without me and are almost finished so here it goes.

The rules for this one should be simple.
Let me tell you how it will be
There's one for you, nineteen for me
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman

Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don't take it all
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah I'm the taxman

If you drive a car, I'll tax the street,
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat.
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat,
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet.

Don't ask me what I want it for
If you don't want to pay some more
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman

Now my advice for those who die
Declare the pennies on your eyes
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
And you're working for no one but me.
In our greed for taxes we are not allowed to research techs -- we want to keep a 100% tax slider.
Our main beaker resource will probably be extorsion, but we're also allowed to buy techs with our gold and broker with the techs we've extorted or bought.
Initial worker techs is OK -- we need to get the economy started first.

Map will be something with access to all civs I think. Lakes/Pangea/Inland Sea comes to mind.

Requirements: Preferrably comfortable on immortal, but not a must. Bonus points if you know where the indented text is from. ;)

Ingame difficulty level TBD.
Warning: I'd rather crash and burn than have a very easy game. :)

Roster:
1: Rusten
2: RRRaskolnikov
3: ungy
4: TMIT
5: Emperor Peter
6: stuge

I don't believe in a super strict 24/48 hours policy, but if you don't post and let us know what's going on within 3 days from being up you'll be skipped.
If the game is slowed down too much everyone loses interest.

Further clarification on variant to be discussed if there's interest.

A higher level allows this to be actually viable...how are you handling techs prior to the AI getting currency? It'd be a little odd to sit on 0% w/o worker techs :p...but where do you draw a line?

Anyway if you want me on the roster I can play!

You're in! And to answer your question ->

Similar to ungy01. Haven't decided where to draw the line, we'll do that when the roster is finalised, but it will be early.

Nice to see this idea of the taxman executed!

I had been wondering myself if 100% gold slider throughout the entire game would be feasible. So I'll gladly lurk this one, I'm afraid you guys are slightly ouf of my league. Good luck! :)

I'll be subscribing to this and lurking, if for no other reason than the wicked reference. I'm actually being a Beatle for Halloween tonight. :) The variant sounds really interesting, but I'm not good enough to play with you guys.

If you say so, but don't forget your bonus points for catching the reference. TBH I rate activity and willingness to participate higher than skill level, but it's usually a good idea to keep teams balanced. Which level do you usually play? This goes for nocho as well.

Long time lurker here, i would love to play an SG if you'll have me. My only SG experience so far is making the copper deal in ungy 6, so that's quite limited. Single player i play at emperor difficulty, but with the teams help i feel confident at immortal.
Sounds good to me, we could definitely use copper this game!

Rusten--thanks for saving me a spot and count me in.
Unfortunately I'm old enough that the song was in the recent past when I started listening to music

Great! That puts the roster at 5 which is enough to start the game. 6th spot still open.

If you're like me you started listening to The Beatles in the womb so that's not necessarily too bad. ;)

Where do we draw the line for techs? I'm thinking IW is allowed seeing as we may land in jungle. Sailing? Writing? Perhaps all ancient techs, but that leaves out IW IIRC.
Thoughts regarding map?
Leader/civ?

I'm thinking SH will be good here for the prophet points. We don't have to worry about the lack of a GS. We won't have access to many wonders either.

I'm tempted to give this a go at immortal, but that will be tough. If the team feels like it will be too hard I'm flexible. Be aware that buying techs is very inefficient. Maybe emperor is best.

rusten, you can not use the slider but w/ pyramids you can tech almost as good. adding later UoS/Mercantilism and you'd have decent tech. rate at 100% gold, w/ democracy/communism and all the EP buildings there will be enough to steal as well.
Is that considered fine or the main idea is to sue for peace, demand and the like?

The idea is to not research anything ourselves. We only care about

edit: Although it disgusts me ;)

Running the economy mostly off of Representation boosted specialists is pretty easy. Seen it done on diety before. If you want to truly make this game unique, you will need to dissallow the Mids.

No need to disallow the mids, we might want US, but representation is definitely out.

Emperor level here... and a bonus point for the reference might make me eligible, but tempting as it is to join, I'll stay on the sidelines for now. Already in 2 other SGs and the SGOTM, so a probably warheavy immortal variant might be a bit too much to add to the agenda. :)

Well, in the unlikely case you have problems filling up the roster or if you suffer drop outs I'll gladly help out, but I guess that won't be necessary. Good luck again!

hey if your gonna do this varient theirs some one whoes already done it which might give you some tips on how to go about it

http://www.compoundeye.net/civ/

its under private games no science

Thanks for letting me join, some thoughts
Leader: Churchill might be interesting:
-the stock exchange: +65 % gold, enough said
-we won't have a techlead but with protective redcoats we could perhaps war at tech parity
-charismatic: synergy with stonehenge

Other choices: mansa (mint) although a fin leader will make it too easy i guess
brennus: spi might be good (i guess to avoid WFYABTA we should run several civs fav civic to get them friendly), the UU and UB would be good on highlands map

Map: no preference, I wonder if this would work on fractal or continents
I'd rather crash and burn than have a very easy game.
we should try immortal at least

I'll join if you don't mind that I can only participate on weekends. I'll be busy being a soldier till January.

OT: Long time no see, cfc. :wavey:
