We could offer hunting to them, and say that we can gift it when they wish to recieve it off us, but they have currently said that they don't want it becuase then they can no longer build warriors for happyness.

I like the idea, I'll go add it in.

    A couple of things:

    1) our "way of" method of offering is great - I love it! But perhaps we need to make our choices less one or the other? Add a "way of the banana", perhaps, where we say "what would you like to do?"

    2) Can we not panic? So Kaz got CoL - it's nearly inevitable that they do, since it plays right into being philosophical. So we think Cav and Kaz have a tech alliance - it doesn't mean that they will always have a tech alliance or that they will have a military alliance. A 5 team game can be very fluid.

I wonder if 1889 remembers the C3CDG over at Poly...now that was an insane game. Gaseous, even, in the diplomacy...

@AT I agree 100% but we have something else working agiasn't us. TIME

once we have Pyramids and Collosus, we are shut out. we need these trades to happen to keep us even on tech, becuase even if we are behind, once those juggernaughts come out, people will be very seletive about what they trade with us...

    Spoiler :
(or they form a 3 team alliance and keep it even when ahead...oh wait that is a different game ;) )

Also for point #1 sailing and masonry, we don't have them yet ;) so we can't send them immediately. So just reword to as soon as we have them.

    But send away.

Automatic reply that some IMs give when the user status is set to away.

Unfortunatly, didn’t make much progress in my chat with Methos, but I’m leaving my IM online. If he comes back to chat more tonight, I’ll post it here.

    Here's the chat:
    Spoiler :

    Methos:
    Im here
    General_W:
    hey - happy Saturday
    Methos:
you too, though wondering why you're working
    General_W:
not - at home. It's a rare saturday where I decided to expose myself to IM for the sake of the team. lol
    Methos:
    ah, hehe
    General_W:
so - you get my e-mail?
    Methos:
    looking at it right now
    General_W:
    sweet.
    Methos:
    interesting offer
    Methos:
I'm curious why alpha is so strong? do you have other partners you desire to trade with?
    General_W:
I don't think the desire for alphabet is so strong, per say - more like we'd just like to make a deal and be friends, rather than not.
    General_W:
Is there some tech other than Alpha you'd rather trade?
    Methos:
we are also considering other options, as I must admit, we don't appear to be an agreement with your first trade option
    General_W:
you mean the letter from Friday?
    Methos:
    yes
    General_W:
yeah - we suspected as much. hence the new offer.
    General_W:
but I think we'd be open to other ideas also.
    Methos:
we also prefer to maintain a strong friendship, but currently are not seeing a trade we are fully willing to agree on
    Methos:
brb getting dinner out of the oven
    General_W:
you're not willing to let Alphabet go, then? We kind figgured the value of it would be less in this game, since humans tend to prioritize getting it. (vs a game against the AI).

    <break>

    Methos:
    did you have connection troubles?
    General_W:
yeah - internet at home can be a little spotty
    Methos:
    ah
    General_W:
small price for living in the country :)
    Methos:
    brb
    General_W:
    ok - np.
    Methos:
unfortunately I can't chat much longer
    Methos:
dinner is done and little one is hungry
    Methos:
I'll get back to you as soon as we've come to a consensus
    Methos:
though note, we do desire a peaceful friendship with your people
    Methos:
gotta go, dinner time with a movie, so later

Note that I intentionally played down our desire for Alphabet. I'm hoping we can get it if we don't seem too eager.
I do realize it's very important for our plans.

Any use giving them a solid line on MC at a specific time?

Things we can offer that do not really screw us over:

    • That we are OK with not recieving alpha until they get Mono
    • That we won't sell Alphabet
    • Negoitiations for an MC trade by t90, so long as they are finished by the time we get sailing (2 turns, give them the turn time (they can have sailing by t74, masonry by t76)).
    • They don't want us to trade with Saturn (they know we and MS have the same techs so can't trade anyway) if we discover them first...maybe we should offer something to do with this?

    Any others?

Side note: if this doesn't work, then we really need to shut them both out of the tech trading...

He really wants to be friends but doesn't want to accept our trade or suggest any of his own. I think I know what kind of friendship that's going to be.
