Ok, I think this is the right forum. Anyways, about 3 weeks ago, I had two internet pages and "My Documents" open while listening to an audio CD in my CD drive. Suddenly, an error or something occured and my comp deleted the track I was listening to and the one after. Ever since, my computer won't read any CDs at all. Please help with this problem. Do I need a new Cd drive or what?

does sound like a hardware problem. perhaps you just need to clean the cd reading lens thing (but i doubt it), but pretty much any other problem with the cd drive is cheaper to replace the whole thing than to try to fix it.

i think they have lens cleaning cds (but don't know how effective they are). other option is to pull it apart and doing manually. i'm not going to suggest you do this without having seen this thing first hand.

a new cd drive doesn't cost that much. not much at all $20-25. burners these days cost about AUS$60-70. don't know how many hyrulian rubles it will cost you though.
