CD Protection like 1.16f?

I play Civ 3 at two places, home and work (yeah I know, that's bad). Will I have to lug my game CD back and forth like with the 1.16f, or will it just fire up without a CD check? I used the patch to avoid doing this with 1.16F, do I need to wait for another patch for 1.17?

Just curious before I install.
