CDC Error, Crash upon installation

When I am installing the game and get to Art0.FPK I get a crc error message:

This happens again and again about 20 times through diffeent files when I click ignore. However, the first time i tried ti install the game it didnt crash when I entered the 2nd CD and when it finished I get an error message that says intro or something does not exist. The 2nd time I tried to install it did crash the whole computer and I got a blue screen, and here is the error message afterwards:

Since I was in the process of installing the game was in fragments and I now have to go through the CD to enter setup because autorun says play still. I have no idea what is going on, is there any way to manually install this game? thanks in advance.

Look at the firaxis website, and one of the tips is just to copy both cds to the same directory, than install.

When you say CDC you mean CRC?

Anyway, when you try to copy the contents of the CDs to your hard drive, you're getting errors? Try installing the game on another computer. If that fails, the CD are bad. If it works, something sucks with your CD/DVD drive. Try upgrading firmware, or uninstalling some CD/DVD-related software.

yes, duh, sorry, it is a CRC error. BTW last time i installed on my desktop it worked like a charm so it might be my cd drive. I upgraded the firmware tho, what could be causing this?
EDIT: other games installed fine but they crash often, i dont know if it is the entire computer itself or some part thats bad. This is very frustrating

The fella in the link I posted resolved it by cleaning his disc.

well, i guess wiping it with a towel worked somewhat. It installed Art0.FPK this time without interruption (after taking 6 blocks of the download bar), plus no error, but when I just got my hopes up it got to Intro.bik the CRC message popped up. I did notice about 5 scratches on the disk when i was wiping it and am starting to think that is the problem. Is there any household cleaner or whatnot that could get the scratches out? I would love to play this game in the near future
