CFC NFL Pick'em Funtimes 2016-2017

I'm unable to watch the Seahawks game because my TV isn't showing it, but looking at the score- let's just say Illram was wrong about the Panthers/Falcons game being the biggest upset of the season.

I knew the Seahawks winning by 2 touchdowns was absurd, but I didn't expect them to actually get slaughtered in the first half. Lynch, Rawls, Graham, Kam Chancellor, Doug Baldwin (don't underestimate how much Baldwin has been contributing) are all out. And I'm 99% sure they didn't even take the Rams seriously. Now they will pay for it.

edit: I could swear Baldwin was out but it seems he's playing, according to the highlight reel. I am confused. Whatever.

edit number 2 (to avoid double posting)

I really did already predict Houston would cover their game this week but that was during the time I was banned so I couldn't post. I pmed owen that pick but then he became banned as well. Then I Pmed Illram to post for me instead, but I forgot I sent the Houston game in a separate PM since the spread wasn't decided yet at the time as the other games. I can send a screenshot of the PM I sent Owen, if need be. Or he can take care of it, depending on when he gets unbanned. Not sure when that will be, or who will take care of this contest until he gets unbanned.

Alrighty, back from my *ahem*...sabbatical. Let's have a look-see at how everybody did:

Pos | Name | Points | Record
1 | caketastydelish | 20 | (9-2-5)
2 | Timsup2nothin | 18 | (8-2-6)
3 | madviking | 14 | (6-2-8)
3 | vivalamexico | 14 | (6-2-8)
5 | IglooDude | 14 | (4-6-6)
6 | illram | 13 | (5-3-6)
7 | Light Cleric | 11 | (4-3-8)
8 | KMRblue1027 | 10 | (3-4-9)
9 | Owen Glyndwr | 2 | (1-0-1)

So a bit of a wonky week results-wise. cake and Tim ran away with the week while everybody else had pretty lackluster results. This was a week full of upsets and unexpected results - Washington's win (6/14), Chicago's win (4/16), Atlanta's win (4/16), Baltimore's win (0/16), New York Jet's win (4/16), and St. Louis's win (0/16) all caught everybody or most-everybody by surprise. Conversely there weren't a whole lot of consensus wins - Oakland (12/16) Buffalo (14/16) and Minny (12/16) were the only big victories.

Let's see how this translates to the overall standings going into the final week:

Pos | Name | Points | Record
1 | Light Cleric | 263 | (115-33-89)
2 | caketastydelish | 244 | (107-30-68)
3 | vivalamexico | 240 | (107-26-107)
4 | illram | 233 | (98-37-96)
5 | madviking | 233 | (95-43-100)
6 | Owen Glyndwr | 224 | (92-40-83)
7 | Timsup2ntohin | 220 | (95-30-101)
8 | IglooDude | 214 | (86-42-95)
9 | KMRblue1027 | 133 | (49-35-72)
10 | Azale | 84 | (38-8-31)
11 | classical_hero | 17 | (8-1-7)

So I went through my records with a fine toothed comb to double check all the points totals so there were a couple minor adjustments that you might notice, namely cake got 2 points that I missed last week, viva got an extra 1-point game in his standings that I missed, as did KMRblue. Didn't really affect the standings at all so there's that. Going into the last week things are less interesting than they were the last couple weeks. Light Cleric made it interesting with a poor(ish) performance this week, but with a 19 point lead and 32 points left to go cake would have to put up a 1st place performance with Light Cleric basically not showing up for him to lose his lead. 2nd place is still fairly interesting with only 4 points separating cake and viva and illram and madviking are in a points-tie for 4th. So some interesting stuff could still happen.

Stay tuned after Week 17 for the wrap when I'll (hopefully) throw in some other fun stats to keep an eye on.

Without further ado here are your final spreads for the year:

Never mind.

Btw. Are you telling me this contest is discontinued for playoff games/superbowl? :(

here's my picks for the final week.

Tennessee @ Indianapolis, Indianapolis by 6

Giants cover. Only because OBJ is back.
Washington @ Dallas, Dallas by 3.5
Washington wins. Washington has been playing pretty well, and Dallas has been playing pretty bad.
N.Y. Jets @ Buffalo, Jets by 3
Jets cover. This is the team that just beat the freaking Patriots.
New England @ Miami, New England by 10.5
New England covers.
New Orleans @ Atlanta, Atlanta by 4

final edit:

if any of these spreads change, please shoot me a PM. Can't promise I'll continue looking here until after the results are over.

What was the fifth game I lost?

I counted:

Jets vs patriots
panthers vs falcons
seahawks vs rams
pittsburgh vs baltimore

as the 4 games. Don't see the fifth. I'm probably missing it like an idiot, though I'd like for it to be pointed out.

edit: thank you light cleric. And I see now. I'm an idiot, haha.

Tampa lost to Chicago

also why were you banned owen or is it against the rules to ask that(or do you just not want to ay)

Let's just say I used a bad slur and leave it at that.

If you want to hear specifics, you're welcome to come to #fiftychat and I can tell you all about it. Otherwise, I took my lumps, let's move on.

You are allowed to change picks all the way until kickoff. Just let me know when you do it, which you did. So :goodjob:

I did.

From the O freaking P:
You're welcome to place your picks as soon as the spreads for the week are posted and change them as many times as you want over the course of the week, however, you must place your pick before kick-off of the game in question and at that point the pick is final. Last season many people posted their pick for the TNF game during the week and withheld their Sunday and MNF picks for Saturday or Sunday morning. This practice is perfectly fine as long as the picks are placed before kickoff.

I also reiterated it when I posted the week 1 spreads
