Bought it, preloading it (doesn't unlock here until Friday) even though I'm not really sure my old laptop will run it meaningfully. (The computer will be replaced Real Soon Now in any case.)

No, due to DRM + DLC + criminal pricing for Australians.

I might get the "complete" edition when the price comes down. Might.

Spot all the Americans bragging about getting the game already :)

I won't be getting it. I don't have the specs or the cash and I don't even play Civ IV that often.

I will be getting it on Friday (hopefully)

Realistically though because of other commitments I won't have the time to play this much. I'm going to have to improve my time management and sacrifice some other things.

My PC meets the recommended specs.

I might get it in a year when there aren't any older, cheaper games that I want to play left.

It blows my mind how many of you are using microwaves to make these posts.

I wish I was but sadly I don't have any desktop and my laptop doesn't meet min reqs. And I don't have 3000$ to spend on a killer laptop just to play civ5 on it.

Where's the 'not yet' option, due to moronic release dates policies by Firassxis?

Having played some more and finally getting past the technical issues, I'm nearly ready to write up a full review. I think some aspects of it are brilliant, but other not so much.

The modders have a lot of work to do...

Yup. Pre-ordered it over the weekend from Amazon. It was waiting for me when I got home from work yesterday!

No, I see no reason to abandon Civ3.

I see no reason to abandon [civ3] either, but you can fiddle around with the new one a bit, can't you?
I'll try the demo first and see what happens.
EDIT: the morons at Firaxis have decided that latin America is not worth that much of their time, just found out *sigh*

It's not Firaxis - it's 2K. 2K are also responsible for the inspired Steam-mandatory decision.

Whoever. They've got so many fans by now that it's like Nintendo: they'll implement some ridiculous new feature and sell it for a ridiculously large fee, and people will flock to buy it.

I could fiddle around with the new one if I could be remotely bothered. :)

Abandon it for cIV at least. ;) Much better IMO (though I still the civ 3 is fun)
