We already had a gauntlet for Espionage Victory with Gilga. I was hoping we would get to try out some other leaders during this Challenge Series. Someone like Freddy or Zara could be fun.

Read all the threads here but I'm still a bit confused about this new VC (for me anyways). Seems to be a lot of discussion about beelines with Bureau/Cottages vs a slight research deviation which allows Food/Specialist/1800 (gpp) magic # etc etc.

Anyone got a sec to break it down to Espionage for Dummies 101? Seriously lol. None of this makes any sense to me, especially given the fact I've only played 1 or 2 culture games in my life.

Cheers. Sean.

Thanks for the link. Looks interesting when compared to a traditional Culture victory. At least an Espionage victory entails some early wars to accumulate enough land to facilitate the quickest accumlation of espionage per turn/GSpies/whipping spies, etc.

First time trying one of these. Are there restrictions that control whether or not the spread culture option appears in the spy action menu? I culture bombed and gifted 3 cities, but could only perform spread culture in 1 of them.

Also, would you not need to take back these cities before they all go Legendary in order to avoid your opponent getting the win? Would holding onto 1-3 Great Artists for the end be useful?

You cannot spread culture on the same turn you gift the city. Next turn the option should appear.

The culture you spread is your culture. They don't get any culture at all from the missions. Spread culture until you have 50k, then the cities become legendary when you take them back.

Thanks!

It continued to not offer the mission through 10 or so turns in 2 of the gifted cities, but it allowed in the first.

Do I need to build a certain amount of culture buildings before gifting?

I bombed each city, then gifted, then moved in with spies. I should have had enough espionage do pull off 20 or so culture missions...

"When can you use the Spread Culture mission?
This also causes confusion because you can only use it in cities that are in range of the culture from another of your cities. On border areas this means that you need to get border pops such that you are putting culture into the city tile of the target city. Then you can start running the mission."

Think it answers my question.

Oh? Wow, that was new info to me. Yet another reason to keep your gift cities as close to the capital as possible.
