Have you ever been in front of your computer thinking, "Do I want to play Chess or Civilization"? Well, now you can do both with this chess scenario.

I tried to change the rules to make it as "chess like" as possible. Here are the major changes:

-All units (except Kings and Queens) have 2 moves per turn.
*Kings move only once.
*Queens move three times.
-Only Rooks can fortify (castling).
-Victorious Pawns may create a new Queen.

Here's a preview of the minimap:

And a picture taken near the end of the game:

The green line shows how I lost. I didn't see that comming. I thought I was taking a nice picture of me about to win. :D

The game time average out to be about 3 minutes, so it's worth a try, right?
For Conquests.

Way back in vanilla I made a little chesslike mod for myself. It had the classic chessboard, and filled much of a small that was otherwise mountains, but instead of plains, black squares were coast and bishops were boats. Each water square had an island in the middle. To move diagonally you had to put a city on the corner of a 5 by 5 or 7 by 7 land square. I'm going to try your scenario and see if I can figure out how you did the moves thing.

I once developed the tactic of the "Terminator king". Basically, you mess around with pawns, bishops, etc. to create a sort of smokescreen and give the impression that you're building some monstrously clever attack, and then you send your king crusading into enemy territory. It's such an utterly stupid tactic that it's been known to baffle stronger players who are unable to predict what's going to happen next.

Well, not *much* stronger players.

Fun! Great Idea, as others have said.

Though I do agree, in the spirit of chess, the King should have some attacking power. Maybe 1 or 2, and a defense of 0. I just played a game where all I had left was the King, and the computer wouldn't capture him for some reason. I'd at least like to go out fighting. :)

Chessboard graphics would also rule.

Great game. Too bad it dosen't end when you win. you always have to retire...

Is there any way to keep everything regular. Nothing sucks more than having to go against 4 elite pawns...

I tried that. Nothing.
