Following on from all the current music threads (makes a change from the evolution/creation debates ;) ) - how about a little game of choosing your own supergroup, it goes like this, you can select any of the following positions in the group and name which musicians you would like to see play together.

Drums
Bass Guitar
Lead Guitar 1
Lead Guitar 2
Keyboards
Vocals

Please put the name of the artist and the current band they are in brackets beside their name. I'll start off with one, be interesting to see which names crop up a lot.

Drums - Bill Bruford (yes , UK, ?)
Bass Guitar - Chris Squire (yes)
Lead Guitar 1 - Steve Hackett (ex Genesis & solo)
Lead Guitar 2 - Rick Emmett (ex Triumph & solo) or
Ronnie Montrose (ex montrose, gamma & solo)
Keyboards - Geoff Downes (asia)
Vocals - John Wetton (asia , UK, king crimson) or
Micahel Sadler (saga)

over to you...........

Aaaaight...

That'd be really funny to hear. It'd be speedy because of Harris and Lombardo, it'd have lots of wailing wah wah solos from Hammet, mallcore breakdowns from Borland and a singer that sounds like Elvis singing about Satan.

Anyways,

Drums: Doc (Vader)
Drums: Asgeir Mickelson (Spiral Architect)
Bass: Steve DiGiorgio (Testament)
Guitars: Andy LaRocque (King Diamond)
Guitars: Gus G (Firewind)
Guitars: Hank Shermann (Mercyful Fate)
Keyboards: Lars Nedland (Solefald)
Vocals: King Diamond

The keyboards would of course be a church organ. I think this band would be pretty "dense" musically.

Drums: Charly Watts
Rhythm Guitar: Keith Richards
Lead Guitar: Brian Jones
Bass Guitar: Billy Wyman
Vocals: Mick Jagger

Drums: Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden)
Bass guitar: Steve Harris (IM)
Lead Guitar: Dave Murray (IM)
Lead Guitar: Adrian Smith (IM)
Lead Guitar: Janick Gers (IM)
Vocals: Bruce Dickinson (IM)
(Vocals: Jon Schaffer) (Iced Earth)

Who didn't see this one coming? ;)

Drummer 1: Joey Baron (NY downtown avant-guarde scene mainstay)
Drummer 2: Dave Lombardo (Fantômas, Slayer, Grip Inc.)
Bass: Trevor Roy Dunn (Mr Bungle, Fantômas, Secret Chiefs 3, various jazz combos) accept no substitute!
Guitar 1: Buzz Osbourne (Melvins, Fantômas)
Guitar 2 & Keyboards: Trey Spruance (Mr Bungle, Secret Chiefs 3, Faxed Head)
Vocals & Electronics: Mike Patton (Mr Bungle, Fantômas, Tomahawk, Lovage, ex Faith No More)

So basically Fantômas++ :mischief:

Whoa. This game is harder than I thought it would be. Okay, let's try this:

Drums: Don Henley (of the Eagles)
Bass: John Lodge (of the Moody Blues)
Lead Guitar 1: Mark Knopfler (formerly of Dire Straits, now solo)
Lead Guitar 2: Justin Hayward (of the Moody Blues)
Keyboard: John Linnell (of They Might Be Giants)
Vocals: All of the above, of course. With a special guest appearance by Jasmine Rodgers (of Boa).

Not that I necessarily assume this group would play well together. But it would be cool to see them try.

Drums: Keith Moon
Rythmn: George Harrison
Lead: Eric Clapton
Bass: Paul Mc Cartney
Keyboard: Billy Preston
Vocals: Harrison, Mc Cartney and Clapton.
Song writing: all of the above.

Guitar: Bob Dylan
Harmonica: Bob Dylan
Piano: Bob Dylan
Organ: Bob Dylan
Vocals: Bob Dylan
Lyrics: Bob Dylan

Maybe Neil Young could stand in for a few tunes.

drums_John Convertino (Calexico)

That's a real all star band! I just wonder if Ringo and Michael Nesmith will get along since everything the Beatles did was stolen from the Monkeys.

Rock and Jazz, the best of both worlds:

Drums: Art Blakey
Bass: Jaco Pastorius
Guitar 1: Jimi Hendrix
Guitar 2: Mark Knopfler
Keyboard: Chick Corea
Vocals: Freddie Mercury

I just wish there were horns...
