I looked through five pages of past threads in the hopes of finding something about wireless routers, but to no avail. I am currently looking for a router to link two desktop computers up to a single cable modem. Now I know that that situation does not call for a wireless router, but I will be getting a laptop over the next few months and want to be able to use it anywhere in my place. In addition, I would like to have the ability to possibly have up to 4 computers connected, as well as a printer, and possibly a video game console (if I ever get around to signing up for one of those services.
My question is this: Which router should I purchase for my situation? I know that Netgear and Linksys are two of the better routers out there, but I found a Belkin at Fry's for $40 after rebate (and that is their g router--54 mbps). Should I spend the money for a Netgear or Linksys, or is a Belkin acceptable? Also, is there any reason to go with the 108 mbps over the 54, at least in a residential situation?
Thank you in advance for your replies.
