Is there a way to que up gold? As i have built everything there is to build and the citys start chucking out wave after wave of military units, which just cripples my economy, and its a right pai in the preverbial to goto each city and set wealth each turn

You have to turn off the governor managed production for the city. Go to the city view and click "G". Turn off Manage Production for the city. Then you can put wealth in the que and it won't keep changing it to a unit.

You can use the units as "shield carriers" - sending them to farway cities with low production capacity and then disbanding them there. Well... you may allready know this tactic but in case you didn't
