City chain symbol

Hi,
I have a symbol right to the city name looking like a chain, and I don‘t know what it is. Even more, I have -4 happiness in the city and does that mean a city can‘t repair anything<? Everytime I finish repairing a building, it‘s broken again…

The chain means it is conquered in that age. You seem to be in a crisis as then unhappy settlements are slowly ruined and then revolts.

Conquered by riots? Since it is still in my empire. When buying the repair for a building, next round it is broken again…

No. You took it from another empire. You need more happiness, else it's rinse and repeat. Place an army commander in the city, but happiness buildings, get appropriate civics etc.

I have -5 happiness, but every time I buy a building with happiness, it is destroyed the next turn, repairing it with money, it is destroyed again in the next turn. It is repeating again and again.

And…trying to put wool into the city, doesn’t work. When selection the wool, the slot in the city appears bright and I can choose „add to city“ (I play the German version), but it doesn’t get put in the city.

You need to get to positive happiness, else it continues…

I don’t remember, is wool a city resource? Then the settlement is not a city, but a town. City resources is only for cities.

Wool is part of the Ressource screen, I can select it and add it to the capital, but not to this 2nd city…

The old 'city' term is changed to 'settlement' in Civ 7. Your settlement (except the initial capital) starts as a town. You need to invest gold to upgrade a town to a city. City resources can only be assigned to a city.

Ahh! Thank you. The last part Civ I‘ve played in English is IV, after that I changed to German.
