I need city lists (preferably sorted by relative size/importance) for:
    • Belarus
    • Ethiopia
    • Kazakhstan
As well as these, there are some combination civs which need lists, too:
    • NATO (UK [London capital], Turkey, Iceland, Norway, Croatia, Albania)
    • Failed States (Somalia, East Timor, Equatorial Guinea, Chad)
    • Latin Americans (Cuba, Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Paraguay)
    • Minor Nations (all other civs)
Now these need to have more cities for larger civs geographically, but still have at least one of each (except Minor Nations). For example, a NATO city list might be:
    Code:
                    <City>TXT_KEY_CITY_NAME_LONDON</City>
                    <City>Ankara</City>
                    <City>Istanbul</City>
                    <City>Reykjavik</City>
                    <City>Oslo</City>
                    <City>Birmingham</City>
                    <City>Bergen</City>
                    <City>Zagreb</City>
                    <City>TXT_KEY_CITY_NAME_EDINBURGH</City>
                    <City>Split</City>
                    <City>Glasgow</City>
                    <City>Tiranë</City>
                    <City>Cardiff</City>
                    <City>Belfast</City>
                    <City>York</City>
                    <City>Manchester</City>
                    <City>Oxford</City>
                    <City>Cambridge</City>
                    <City>Exeter</City>
                    <City>Aberdeen</City>
but with a lot more Turkish cities.

Now, as you can see, there's a couple of cities with the normal "TXT_KEY" tags. This should only be used for cities which have different names in other languages (e.g. London > Londres, Londra; Edinburgh > Edimbourg, Edimburgo). If this is the case, the TXT_KEY will be put in the newly created Cities text file. I'm pretty sure some of the Turkish cities also change, but I haven't looked them up

So, if you want to help, post here or send me or DVS a PM. :goodjob:

Sweet! I'll start adding these in.

Mattygerst, is there any chance you could add a few more cities to your lists? They're a little short compared to the others, and they're all quite large countries. Thanks :goodjob:

Oh, and ianinsane, you've put "Lviv" twice in the Ukrainian city list. ;)

                    <City>Mbabane</City>
                    <City>Banjul</City>
Note: I started with the largest cities, put in all the cities with a population of more than 1 million and then filled the list up with all the capitals of the AU states (which are not covered in any other civ).

However, I'm not sure if it makes sense to make the AU up with actual city names. Wouldn't it have more flavour to name the cities like states in Union Civs? So the AU cities wouldn't be called "Kinshasa, Abidjan, Accra etc." but "DR Congo, Ivory Coast, Ghana etc."? EU wouldn't be "Berlin, Madrid etc." but "Germany, Spain...".

I had that thought when I looked up all the capitals of tiny AU island states like the Comoros, Mauritius, Seychelles. I thought it might be more fun if the civ cities on these island were called like the islands themselves and not Moroni, Port Louis, Victoria. (I have no idea if these islands are big enough to appear on our map)

Although I admit it would be more consistent to stick with the actual city names. What do you think, guys? Or has this already been discussed elsewhere?

Hm, that's an interesting idea. For some of the larger civs, we really need city names (i.e. there will be more than one city for France, Germany, Spain etc), but for tiny islands and small countries, I don't see why not. It all depends on how large they are, and I'll have to turn to JEELEN for that, as he's making the map. Continue this discussion in the map thread :)

You're doing a great job, by the way :goodjob: Is the second Lviv a mistake?

Okay, I've added all of them, except MattyGerst's, as they're too short at the moment.

Seems like its a bit tough to add more than a couple cities per civ on a map with 40+ Civs...

A country as large as Egypt, I figured, would only be able to have about 3-4 cities, maximum on the map...

Yes, but for scenario purposes later on, we'll need more. And the GEM is a very big map. Also, the length is inconsistent with other similarly sized countries that we already have. I'm not trying to put you down, but we could do with at least 5/10 more each.

You're right, but don't forget that these are the names that will appear when someone uses a settler. We don't want to see any 'Cairo 2's' right?

And as NikNaks said other scenarios that come later may need more cities, so why not just add more than we need while people are working on the civs? People may also want to play this mod on a blank map, who knows. It doesn't hurt to have large lists I guess is the long and short.

Which of these cities end up getting on the GEM scenario will depend on a few things... mainly which ones JEELEN thinks work best.

Maybe you guys should post here what civs you're going to start on, to avoid conflicts.
