You keep getting these request to help this city state or that one to fight. Often they are far off, but even fairly close ones I do not know where the camp is located.

It seems like at least they should give you a highlighted tile of the camp. In some cases I see a small yellow dot and can zoom to it and it is a camp, but it may not exist any longer.

If it's "not there any longer" you would have gotten a message, "so-and-so no longer needs your help because the (this task) was done by someone else".

Also, if you're really interested in doing these missions, romp around with a couple spearmen, getting them experience some 10-20 hexes from your home. Make yourself a couple medics and spawn some great generals for extra golden ages. Stop turtling. Get out more. See the world.

If you have problems finding encampments, put on strategic view, toglle to view improvements, and zoom out. Should be fairly obvious.

In addition, the notification icon centers the map over the camp and pings it with a highlight on the turn this quest is given out.

That is great, if you act immediately. If however you have a few things to do, you may forget where it was.

Not sure why they need to like me to give a map that shows the tile of the camp they want me to attack. The icon should act like the notification, so I can find it when I get around to it.

That may be a couple of turns later. I do not have troops to spare to wander around, after I have already found the ends of the continent.

The zoom may work, but I suspect not. Will try it, but the grey fog probably covers the area. These are not going to be right next to me or I would have taken them out already.

I was in the Classical age when a city state asked me to destroy another city state I hadn't encountered yet, that existed on another continent, when I still only had triremes. A map might have been useful for that one.
