There is one point i would like to talk about, atm i think that too many buildings are destroyed while capturing a city, in my opinion it wasnt as freqently as it is in this game that at least 50% of the buildings present in a city disapear after conquest.
Collateral damage from siege weapons and eventually some skirmishes inside the city walls / or random pillaging could exaplin these destructions from a "realistic" point of view, but imo it's far too expensive atm.
I mean it doesn't seems really logic to me than after conquering a late 1700's or 1800's city ( like a 3rd or 4th city built ) you'll have to rebuilt a large amount of basic buildings like harbors / lighthouse / market / courthouse / temples etc .
Even if this city has a really honorable number of ressources tiles , u'll have to wait like 80-100 tunrs ( epic / marathon speed ) for this city to be almost as efficient as it was before your war. Realistically, this means 200 / 300 years ?

I think it is far too much, and i would like to have some opinions about that :p

Moreover, i can't really understand why UB's are converted after conquest, for example a Salon become a regular Observatory, Hyppodrome => theatre etc.. It would be really nice imo if UB's keeps their unique abilities after conquest , it would be a good prove of cultural mix, like it was in hystory, and it also would be a slight boost to overall strategy.
Of course capturing a Dutch city will not grant you to be able to build a dyce , but if one was already built before , you could keep this special abilities, and it's pretty logic to me.

I would like to have some advices about this ^^
( and sorry for my bad english :( )

all cultural building are destroyed, to give the victim an advantage in any ensuing culture war. The only culture building you can have after conquest is a Terrace, and then only as the Inca. I do agree with you on the UB thing though

and you can't even look inside to see what buildings are left before you decide whether to move in or not! i ask my army how the city looks after the battle, and apparently the conversation goes something like this:

- umm i dunno really, i was busy fighting and stuff. joe did you look around?
- no, i had to go tell larry to quit pillaging the towns in case we want to move in. he's such a noob. maybe steve looked.
- no, i was busy rounding up the rebellious citizens and taking them to the "prepare to be whipped" room. frank, you look?
- well, ummmm, i was hungry, so i wanted to check for a grocer, but i was wounded so i figured i'd better rest.

and this goes on down the entire line of soldiers.

"you guys just risked your lives in a long, tough battle to capture a city, and you don't bother to even glance around at the prizes we got after we won? what exactly am i paying my military instructors to teach you people????" :gripe:

That would be really cool. Conquering a city and getting their UB! :goodjob:

Does anyone know how to mod something like that? It's a good idea.

Totally agree!! This would add so much flavor to the game. (I even made this suggestion myself once)
