I turns out that where I live Civ 5 will be released exactly at Friday at 00:00 clock :D

However, then I remembered that its my fathers birthday on that very same day and that he lives 30 km away from me and since I don't have a car taking a trip to his home would mean spending the whole weekend there as I would not be able to return back to my home until Sunday night giving me very little time to play before I have to wake up early again the next day as I do almost every Monday.

This is the first site I visited upon realizing this:

Does anyone feel like sharing their sympathy :(:(:(:(:(:(:(

No brainer => Dad is the priority. Family over fantasy every time.

I know I know, I have even bought him a whole World War 1 documentary collection for his birthday ;)

But this still sort of sucks since I was looking forward to spend the weekend on playing Civ 5.

    Oh well.

I hope you're just kidding... Otherwise I'd feel very sorry for you... Family goes before everything in the end.

Hey. Friday is my birthday too. Civ5 makes a fine present, by the way.

I can only call in sick like 3 or 4 times, and I have already done so 3 times already. And since I would like to be able to call in sick at least once more in case I actually do get sick I don't think that's a good idea.

Look... he contributed to your existence biologically and you didn't murder him and steal his tribe. I figure you're even. Just tell him it's Civilization V and walk away. He'll understand.

Wait a minute here. You bought your Dad a WWI documentary for his birthday.

    Dad does historical.

Get over there, touch up his computer (or go buy him one, FAST), and buy him Civ5 for his birthday. Problem solved.

My father is almost 50 and barely knows how to use the printer.

And for your information, this isn't just a documentary, but a whole documentary collection of very high quality.

You can always give up sleep during the week to make up for it.

You are a good son Hardcore. I am ashamed to admit I would have called my father and said I was sick but will be there next weekend.

Hardcore_gamer gets to his dad's birthday and gives him the documentary collection. Upon realizing it's not the boxed version of Civ V, dad looks at him and...
