I think we'd do well to go with a dark theme. It's more civ like. I dislike the banner up top, I think it should be like the old CFC with just the logo and such.

We could go all-in on the Civ 5 look. I believe it to be achievable. I'm going to try and snag all the glory and try and make a more fitting logo. Hell, I'll try making a few more contributions and keep them in this post too.

Also more century gothic pls

One question though. You guys should consider getting together a design team that can work on a development fork of this forum. There are many of us who would be proud to contribute.

Amazing! I'll be happy to collaborate.

Here's what I have till now:

And other buttons following the same style. Also, for threads and forums I suggest using these (I know there are others already, but I think civilian icons are far better for threads, and I like the world congress thing for forums):

And for forums:

And here is the rar file with all the files in their folders:

Hmmm, I like the colours on this skin a lot better. My only complaint is that the V in Civ V shouldn't be as prominent, since, y'know, we do more than just Civ V here. Leugi's button's are fantastic.

I also like Leugi's buttons. :goodjob:

I'm using the new skin now and it looks great! I really like it, very pleasing to the eyes. :D Thanks Ainwood.

I'm liking the new skin colour scheme a lot. Once the buttons are better I think I'll switch to it full-time.

I'm trying it, but all that white is not the green I'm used to....

I like the >> button that links back to a quoted post, but it is too large.
The purple "multi page" dot seems unnecessary since multi page threads have page numbers that show how many pages there are.
I'd prefer something other than a happy face to show that I've posted in a thread
I do like Leugi's buttons.

Leugi's buttons are awesome!

The banner width should increase to 1920 pixels, since there are many people who play Civ V with that screen width (and also goes well with my 15" MacBook Pro with Retina Display).

The banner should stay very small, roughly the same size as is. Not everyone reads civfanatics forums on a FullHD monitor. Then again, I'm sure the admins have analytics on screen sizes. In my experience, even if 15% have smaller than HD, It's not a good idea switch (to higher) resolutions.

OK - I have turned this into a theme, which allows you to see what they look like published. I used the CFC Black theme as the base. You can select it in the forum styles list.

@Leugi - the edit / quote etc buttons look good, but there are whit pixels behind the forum icon buttons. Could they be tidied up?

@others: The css for the style is very configurable. If you have suggestions on which elements to change, post them here.

The google custom search always appears for me to the right of the banner. I'm not sure if that can be fixed, if it can be floating within the banner.

I think that version is too black. A sort of grey for the general background might work better.
Else it looks good IMHO.

Oh, that's because I made them with the other theme in mind (before it split up), so I used the same background color :p (maybe we could use them for Civ V revised too? with the current borders) ... hmn, I'll change them when I can.

I think the banner is too huge, better reduce its size a lot I say. Aaand, a very personal opinion, but I think that the other colors are better than the dark ones... perhaps keep dark for the background, but light for the posts, easier to read.

try a randomized in game screenshot that is shaded and blurred, as if an in game overlay were on top of it.

And for the love of god, make it scale. Also, here's a singular url that will display a randomized image! (refresh)

I'm not sure I support this.

For one, I do most of my browsing on a phone. When I tried to use the Civ5 theme, it opens each webpage extremely zoomed out, which I then have to zoom in to read anything. I have to do this with the standard theme a bit, but not nearly as much. So the Civ5 theme is basically unusable to me on my phone (having to zoom in 7 or 8 times for each and every page is ridiculous) and I think this suggestion would make that worse, not better.

Edit: And none of the actual computers I browse on display at 1920 pixels either.

I agree with Hobbs. It's not much better on a tablet, either.
