Civ 5 won't load, Windows error message

Hey everyone.

I just recently tried installing Civ 5 but cannot start the game.

From Steam I have tried clicking on both "Play Game... " and "Sid Meier's Civilization V (DirectX 9)" but neither work. On both options I get this error message:

"Sid Meier's Civilization V has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost."

And then I get the "Debug," "Send Error Report" and "Don't Send" options.

Does someone know how to get past this?

The usual, install directx 9 and update your video card drivers.. But that card unfortunately may not run civ 5. I guarantee if you do get it to run, it's going to be very slow and choppy.
