Civ 7 is coming in Q4 of FY2025, which is Jan 1 - Mar 31 of 2025

EDIT:
Explainer: An organization's fiscal year does not necessarily align with the calendar year. For Take Two, who owns 2K and Firaxis, their 2025 fiscal year is April 1, 2024 through March 31, 2025. Therefore, the fourth quarter of their 2025 fiscal year is January 1, 2025 through March 31, 2025.

March 3rd, baby!

Yeah, this isn't really surprising since it would be a long wait from announcement to release if it was any later in the year, which would be really weird. Plus, GTA6 is launching at the end of the year and I doubt 2K would want to launch two major games at the same time. And, since it is launching Q1, I wonder if that means we'll get a major DLC release for the holiday season?

Doubt the last part, previously Civ 5 and Civ 6 took well over a year for the first expansion to drop.

I’m confused. How is Q4 fiscal 2025 the first quarter of 2025?
Take 2 is American yeah? I’ve been looking online and can’t see a situation in which Q4 fiscal 2025 = 1 Jan - 31 March.

Happy to be enlightened!

Different companies can have different fiscal years depending on their needs such as for tax planning, etc. Take-Two, for example, starts on April 1st and ends on March 31st the following year. So the 4th Qtr fiscal year is from Jan 1st to March 31st.

That would be Q4 2024 then, would it not? The above reference says Q4 2025.

It states "Q4 Fiscal 2025". The fiscal year is ending in 2025, so it FY2025. FY2024 ended this year on March 31st.
What you posted (before you edited it) made zero sense, so I looked it up on my own.

For others in the thread who are still confused, Take-Two for some reason reports its financial quarters nine months in advance of the calendar year. Q1 2025 just ended June 30, 2024. So apparently it's bizarro world over there.

What I wrote (before editing) - "The fiscal year is ending in 2025." Makes perfect sense, but thought I'd elaborate to help you understand.

As it looks like you're still confused on the topic, I'd refer you to this article that explains in layman terms the difference between calendar & fiscal years.

It only made sense to come in earlier. With a gameplay demo in August, it's already a little stretch to have to wait 4-5 months at the earliest for it.

Now the question is whether it comes early in the quarter or not. I don't see them want to release in January - to me, if you were close enough to release in January, you'd probably push it up a month and try to get in the Christmas sales.

Civ 6 released on a Friday. Rise+Fall released on a Thursday. Gathering Storm also released on a Thursday. NFP also a Thursday. The first Leader Pass came on a Monday (just before Thanksgiving), but the other Leader Pass items mostly came on Thursdays, it looks like. So it definitely feels like Thursday is their day more than anything else.

My gut says February, like R+F and GS. So Feb 6, 13, 20, 27 most likely dates. They haven't shied away from Valentine's Day before, so I'd put my money on Feb 13 right now.
