Does anybody know if there are any free/super cheap CIV IV installers with the expansions that can run on M2 Macbook pros? I miss my days of playing CIV IV and want to give it a shot again. Thanks in advance.

The problem is most likely not the M2 but rather the version of the Mac OS that it is running. If you install a virtual computer on your Mac, such as Parallels. then you can install an older Mac OS and or an older Windows OS in the virtual computer that will let you run CIV and any other older software that you like. Of course, you will have to buy the virtual computer software but you will be able to run lots of software on it.

Another possiblity would be to look on GOG and see if they have updated their implementation of CIV to run on the latest Mac OS. I don't know if they have, since I have not "updated" to a M2 Mac but have stayed with an older version and older Mac OS, so I have not looked. However, they do tend to update their implementations of games to keep up with OS upgrades and they are an inexpensive source of games. You can use their online software or download an offline version of any game, that just runs without the internate being connected.

Yes, the problem is that the MacOS stopped supporting 32-bit applications. If you don’t want to try a virtual machine, you could pick up an old computer to run Mojave (10.14) or earlier. I doubt GOG recompiled the application for 64-bit.
