Very neat! Says in the article how popular it is beyond civ. Not surprising really :)

Very interesting indeed! I have heard a lot of the songs used in Civ elsewhere (which is not surprising, since a lot of the music is classical music that was composed long before I was born--and probably most of us, not counting the vampire types that may choose to frequent the forums, etc).

It's neat how these songs get "associated" with Civ in your brain, so that if you hear a symphony playing such a song or elevator music to that effect or a song in a movie, you start to think about playing Civ...

Still, I have yet to hear Baba Yetu anywhere outside of Civ. It would be pretty neat to get into an elevator and hear that song playing, though. Certainly, if it wins a Grammy, we'll be more likely to hear it in places outside of the game in years to come.

I always disliked that Warlords took away Baba Yetu and replaced it with some midi cruft.

BtS won me back in part because it allows changing the opening music back to Baba Yetu. (I tend to start up Civ IV and then go make a cup of tea while the game loads -- because 26 seconds of program startup is WAY too long to just sit through, I'm a busy man you know -- and because it's an excuse to hear more Baba Yetu.)

haha yes! I've taken a bit more to classical music too, I've always liked it anyway being musically inclined but playing civ has revived my liking for it :)

[party]Tin wins it! And it's well-deserved.[party]

Ah yes, Baba Yetu ... its the Lord's Prayer in Swahili, isn't it?

Give us this day our daily sushi
and forgive us our DOWs, but don't expect us to forgive them who DOW against us

Thou shall REX for the glory of god. Amen

Baba Yetu is the single most epic song I have ever heard. This is coming from a guy who listens to Three Days Grace and Linkin Park. :D
