Civ Select screen UI change proposal

Hello all,

Congrats to the VP team and everyone involved in getting to this 5.0 milestone. After loading up the beta, I got to the civ screen and was thrilled to see the 4UC implementation.

I had a thought that perhaps the UI would be improved by bringing the civ icon all the way to the left, and keeping the 4 UC's together. Additionally, I think centering the civ icon would make the setup look more organic for 5 (civ icon + 4UC) then it currently looks like, which is setup for 6 and that something is missing. (See how Morocco is set up vs. the others) And hey, it is Civ 5 that we are playing.

I've attached a rough mockup (please excuse my very poor graphic editing skills) and wanted to see what other people thought, or if it was worth submitting a proposal to the Congress for this change.

Yes the EUI version doesn't look good. In non-EUI the layout is very similar to your suggestion.

Ah, I didn't know that. Yes, this looks great, and hopefully this can get ported over to the EUI version at some point. I may take a stab at it myself.

We're moving away from EUI, so we should be porting the EUI features (tooltips on icons which aren't working right now, and right click icons to enter Civilopedia) to non-EUI instead.

Interesting. Is that something planned for 5.0 final, or further on in the future? (5.1, e.g.)

You see the new unit/building/tech/tech button tooltips? Those are 0% EUI.
