I've been really enjoying the unique civic trees for far - much more than expected. I find this to be a great addition to the game which makes each civ feel more interesting to play, at least for me.
I've only played 3 games so far, only till the end of antiquity (then I say "lemme try again, I can do better") but each three games have felt so different thanks to the civic trees.
Rome was my learning game, but I looking forward to give Rome a "proper run" with a super tall empire. I've never been a big Rome player (scandalous!) but this is probably my favorite version of Rome I've seen in a game.
Aksum was fun for learning to build a trade empire. It was fun to lean really far into trading and bonuses from it.
My current game of Greece has been fun, but I didn't realize how quickly other civs grab Suzerainship, I've only got one city state under my control, so looking forward to giving it all another go.
I'm not sure about the longevity of this system, but I'm definitely enthusiastic to try each of the aforementioned civs, just to lean into their play style more.
That's not even to mention strategic layers which come from traditions going to the next age.
Thanks for reading. I had to get off my chest how much I like the new civic trees and my wife probably needs a little break from hearing about my enjoyment in the game.
Anyone else out there also having a good time with the unique civic trees?
