Civ Specific wonders

I think it would be cool if your style of play unlocked various wonders and a ton of other features available only to that particular Civ. I think it would greatly enhance a unique experience and strategy for each civ and then we could really have some heated debates on which one was best. Perhaps you couldn't unlock all the features in one game but had to choose different paths or something. Lots of unique units not just one. Anyway off course. Civ specific wonders would be cool cause its ******** building Oxford in ZULU.

This should be English only. And it should be different in impact than Harvard (or we can call it the Ivy league Universities to make more people happy) for the Americans.

The only Issue is not too many Civs (not trying to offend anyone who is attached to a particular one for whatever reason) have a long, prominent and complex enough history to pull this off. Perhaps it can be Late game/early game (England, Germany, US late game, Zulu, Rome early game?)

Also unique civ specific great people anybody? With their own special abilities?
And what about Great people with out their own civ in the game? (Tesla, US I guess but He isn't on American money)
Instead of just great generals can we get war hero units too (like prominent pilots/tank commanders or something)?

Hmmm... By 'unlocking' in-game, are you thinking, like, massive researching unlocking more tech options, massive conquest opens up military options, etc? or do you mean that researching certain techs allow you to 'branch' your tech tree, choosing one path instead of another forcing you to pick between techs?

It seems to me there was a space 4X game with a similar tech pattern (the branching one, I mean)... SotS maybe? I don't remember... anyway, as cool as it was, it bugged me not to be able to get all the techs... :) guess I'm tech-obsessive that way. Also, for me personally, I found that certain paths I just couldn't pull myself away from - there were too many advantages in my playstyle to go another direction; so my caution with this type is to truly balance the options to really encourage trying different paths.

If it's the first one (past actions open new paths for you) - well, then I'm a little unsure...

Oh, just re-read your post, and see you also specify civ-specific trees... OK, cool idea in general, as long as it's very well balanced - I guess that's my big fear, creating one civ that's THE civ to play. I dunno, I kind of like the idea of civs that historically didn't hang on very long in the real world winning a game in the modern era - I chuckled, for example, as my (Christian) Aztec modern armor rolled across continents. So, for me, part of the fun is NOT being historically accurate.

OK, long rant - here's the one-sentence summary: Balance should be premium - if we make sure it's balanced well, it'd be interesting to see.
