Civ VI and VII at the same time? Steam issue?

Hi,

My son runs Civ VI on desktop and I wanted to run VII on my laptop, but Steam does not allow it.

Why?

Those are two different versions and both paid, two licenses. Why I cannot play them at the same time?

Steam might limit concurrent usage of a single account maybe. Beyond family sharing you're not supposed to share your account with anyone. It gets annoying, because same thing happens if you run something on your PC and try to start a game on steamdeck at the same time. I think one workaround you can try if at least one of you is playing single player mode - is to go to offline mode with steam.

Offline works, but it is strange, as I have two computers at home. They do not expect my 10 year old to buy his own copy of Civilization or to have his own Steam account?

Steam does not support multiple players using one Steam account simultaneously - games associated with a Steam account are licensed for the sole use of the account holder.
And for age - might be different for different countries, but from what I can find, they expect your 10 year old to reach at least 13 and then he can have his own account.
