Can't say I enjoyed it. The beginning was OK, but once solar flares and comets started up, it was just an unfun slog of repairing districts/buildings, and rebuilding cities taken out by the comets. Had a sizeable score lead two turns from the end, comet hit my capital. Lost the lead slightly, next turn I had regained a slight lead. Then I lost one more city to a comet the last turn for the loss. Won't be replaying it, too much random chance involved for my liking.

Well, this is weirdest challenge ever - finished on prince first , quite easy and then went to emperor, and there comet strike were so often , it deleted all my 8 cities including capitol. So i guess i will have to skip this one on emperor since this look too buggy and it require more luck then skill.

I hadn't played Apocalypse before so I was horrified to learn about comet strikes (they started on T100 in my game, Emperor level)

I was pumping out Settlers as fast as I can to backfill my beautiful cities that had become smoking craters. The 4-pop cities are sort of decent, you can build an Encampment for Ranged Strikes or a Commercial District for an instant trade route. Building the trader itself was really slow in comparison.

Then I googled a bit and learned you could win by "Victory" (by wiping out all AI cities), so it was time to build Manhattan Project and start beating up on the AIs. I only managed to build two nukes due to the abysmal production of my crappy cities, but it was barely enough and I won on T149.

Yeah it seems to finish this on emperor it is required to capture other cities to compensate for lost cities. But this suppose to be score type of game and not domination.

Any tips for how to beat this for?
As always with apocalypse mode, put Liang in the capital (or other best city) to make it immune to disasters, and have a few settlers out on the oceans so that you don't auto lose in case you lose all other cities (Liang could be taken out by a spy after all). Even with horrible RNG, the AI will lose to comets sooner or later. Also if you can launch the exoplanet expedition, its the one win condition that keeps counting down without being affected by RNG such as comet strikes.

Liang was great in my game! I was disappointed that she doesn't block comet strikes - she really needs to develop forcefield dome technology or something.

Tricks like that should be mentioned in intro post :)

Will these challenges end once Civilization VII is published? Will the challenge window be removed from the Civilization VI main menu when they end?

(If the plan is to leave it there to advertise Civilization VII, an option to hide it would be very welcome!)

Emperor: I stayed 3 tiles away of vulcanos for cities, immediately build dams, focused on science and by turn 80 I conquered the world with superior bombers...too easy

I also quickly (t20 or so) expanded to 10 cities by chopping settlers and builders with the builder and settler policies on. Turned out these cities covered all strategic resources, except Iron. Build an 11th city for that one late in the game.
