Hi Civ gamers, I was hoping if some of you could help me with a problem. You see, I play Civ 6 on my laptop and it stays in between the 10-20fps mark on 1920x1080. I tried lowering the resolution but all it does is zoom out which leaves a thick black border around it. Is there anyway for me to change the resolution but keep it on fullscreen? I'd appreciate your help :)

Play...on a laptop?

..but why? When there are desktops for half the cost?

Can you first try to lower your graphics settings as much as possible ? The resolution can give you a boost from 5 to 10 FPS but you will need to go really low for that, around 800x600.

Do you use a dedicated GPU or a integrated Intel one ?

Yes, I have lowered my graphics settings to the lowest and I think my GPU is integrated.

Here are my specs:
Graphics Card: Intel HD Graphics 5500
Processor: Intel Core i5-5200U
CPU: 2.20GHz
Ram: 4GB

As you can see it's not much.

well i had a similiar problem on my surface book, when i downscaled the resolution, i also had a black border. I think (im not sure though) i solved it by right clicking on the .exe in ..\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\Base\Binaries\Win64Steam and klick on properties. then chose the compatibility tab and check the DPI-scaling checkbox and chose "System" in the drop-down menu.

maybe this helps. i don't know.

The suggestion by Turrdy might help. However you have an integrated Intel card, so you won't be able to get much out of the lower resolution.

I tried playing XCOM 1 on an old notebook with an Intel card and could not get it to run above 20 FPS. Then I tried it on a new one with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M and managed a solid 60 FPS.

Thanks but which drop down list is it? I tried searching but it isn't there. I also tried the DPI Scaling box but no luck :(
