But i can't exactly tell you what to do. Tho there's a file called "Civ 2 Fantastic Worlds v2.7.8 "
Maybe that's the one you need. Backup you civ and give it a try

I tried to install the patches I read on the url you gave me. I installed the clean version of civ 2 and patched it to 242. then I copied the mge files.
After starting civ2 I got the error massege:
ICDecompressEX returned-3
Do u know how I can handle with this massege?

That damnable ICdecompress thing again huh? I'm not sure of what the cause is. First try uninstalling all versions of civ2 then reinstall 2.42 into a new and different directory, this has helped before. If not you can try the updated patches at http://hometown.aol.com/cedricgreene/

For some strange reason, I think this helps. I have had the same problem (ad described in the other thread), but eventually solved it by making a copy of my grossly altered scenario-specific MGE folder (which for some reason still worked), and then copying in the bunch of the original txt+gif-files. But it's still weird. :crazyeyes
perhaps I tell you what I have done exactly:
1st installed civ2 classic in a new directory.
2nd updating to version 2.42
3rd run the MGE-242.exe to get MGE.
4th updated with CIVIIMultiupdatev1.3
5th set the language in the civ.ini to 1/3 (tried both)
(6th double clicked the vfwfix - tried with and without doing this)
this all leads to the error message ICDecompres...
then I copied the orig. gif and txt files into the civ2 directory which leads to the message :

in Modul CIV2.EXE bei 024f:004a227e.

i did the following:
Installed Civ2 -> installed newest Patch (2.42 !?) -> installed the patch from this site to make it Civ2 MGE -> installed newest MGE Patch -> "Installed" crack (didn't accept my CD)
Thats how i got it from Civ2 classic to MGE. But i can't really help you about the Fantasy Worlds or Mission Disc.
Maybe it was the crack that kept mine from getting that error, cracked files tend to be less error sensible

English you need to play it in English otherwise it won't work. The first 3 steps you did should have been enough. Stop there and see if it works.

ok, it still aint working. I redownloaded all the files from cedrics site.
Just an interesting thing... when i unzipped the files, cv.dll was corrupt... I wonder if that has anything to do with it? WEll i tried using both the old and the new dll and both of them didn't work. so i dont know.

One possible solution, which worked for me, was completely removing the "video" directory from the Civ2 directory. I don't know why exactly it worked, but I no longer get that "ICD-Compress returned -3" error.
