I created a mod that has an excellent world map, accurate civ placement and modified rules (to allow for a better game in my opinion :mwaha: ).

I was wondering if anybody would be interested in playing! :)

All you need do is give your:
1. DOGTAG - e.g kittenOFchaos
2. E-MAIL ADDRESS - BAkittenOFchaos@aol.com
3. DIFFICULTY LEVEL PREFERENCE - Monarchy
4. CIVILISATION PREFERENCE - 1st: Rome 2nd: Russia
5. Whether you want to play with the American civ present OR with the Americans disabled and the Iroquois, Aztecs and Zulus "crippled". - I'll go with the majority ruling.

I STRONGLY recommend you have a computer that can handle a huge map and 15-16 civs before applying for this succession game.

:king:

I hope I get some interest in this game...to see my "mod thread" click on the link in my signature!

P.S you don't need to download my mod even...once we decide on difficulty, civ etc all I need do is post the start save...simplicity itself!

You can reduce pollution in the mod for any improvement to 0. So, I assume you're using Marla's map? My computer can handle it (3-5 second delay at the most). I played it once for a few hundred turns, and by the time I reached Europe (I was playing the Japanese), the whole map looked a little *TOO* realistic! (countries where in their respective places, as well as city populations - i.e., China covered most of modern day China, Europe was choked with civs - and their borders nearly matched!, Russia was still 90% in Europe, and I don't even want to *think* about the Zulus!).

BTW, I think I'll pass on the Monarchy game. I'm already in one, and I don't want to bite off more than I can chew. (I'm more of a Cheiftain-Regent player).

no, im playing KITTEN world map version, i would just like to know how to put each civ in the correct place, they say something about CPT but i still dont know how to use it, can u give me a quick and easy explanation here plz? also can u post here the ZIP FILE of the CPT ? thanx

Here's the CPT. There's a sample script (more like a config file) that allows to set the civs' cities and Fog of War. The only thing you should really know about are the X,Y coords. Open the .bic in Civ Edit, and move your mouse over any tile. You'll see an X,Y coordinate at the bottom of the screen. Find where you want what civ to go where. (i.e., Rome at 50,15 - I just made that number up), and type it into the CPT file.

Now, I think you use the same process as Marla's map. Save it (i.e. fixed.sav) and run the program.

Bump

Are you planning on passing the save file through e-mail?

DIFFICULTY LEVEL PREFERENCE - Monarchy
CIVILISATION PREFERENCE - 1st: Russia 2nd: Germany
It doesn't matter to me if they are crippled or not, I haven't tried one with them crippled so will go for that.

How many turns?
How long to play?
How many people?

How many turns...with civ2 succession typcially 20 seemed to work well.

How long to play...? till we conquer or die!

How many people...that depends on how many are interested (within reason), though 5 people would be a decent enough sized group!

We "post" the savegame in this thread (or a new one just for the write-up of the turns) as an attachment.

Using winzip or another common encoder to reduce size.

I wouldn't mind giving it a shot at Monarch level with Rome.

However, if this is one of them *HUGE* maps we should definitely lower the turn length to 10 later on. I'd go for all civs, no crippling.

Which Patch?

How long to play...? till we conquer or die!

Sorry lthe question was not posed clearly....how long between the time we are "up" until we post that we have downloaded and started playing, and then how long do we have to play and post results. Normal appears to be in the area of 24 hours to say you have it and 48-72 hours to post results.

However, if this is one of them *HUGE* maps we should definitely lower the turn length to 10 later on. I'd go for all civs, no crippling.
If past experience with Marla's map is any indication 10 may even be streaching it by the time we get to the end. Once the world is pretty much settled, it can take up to a hour or more per turn if you truely manage the cities properly.

Another question.....worker automation? I played a couple of turns on an open SG with Marla's map (china) and spent most of the first hour I played catching all of the workers that had been automated. The most I would suggest allowing would be "improve nearest city without changing any previous improvements" and "build railroad to here". The new stack movement commands help a lot with this, unfortunately there is no stack improvement commands (would be nice!).

I'd like to try it out. I've never done an SG before but i think i can handle it. As for my info:

1. Waco Kid
2. Jtacker7@yahoo.com
3. Monarchy or harder (will not play easier than monarchy)
4. No preference (unless you have horses in america, then i would like to be the U.S.)
5. Not sure what changes you made, so i guess i'll trust your judgement, so in the case of making teams weaker, i'll trust everyone elses judgement there too. Although personally, i feel the harder the game, the better.

I'm merely waiting until we get sufficient numbers to make it a worthwhile experienced. Though I am surprised at the lack of takers...

Bump again

The map is too big for most people.

Well maybe people don't know you.

Watching ;) all these games, I don't see you playing in any of them.

At this point, I don't know if any of the signed up people are to interested.

i want to play :) :)

but i have to say i have absolutely no wishes regarding which civilization or what difficulty...i just want to play :D

Okay...we are starting tonight :) Maybe more will show an interest once we get up and running.

I will send out e-mail etc soon.

P.S TheWatcher...people not know the kittenOFchaos???
Then they don't really know Civfanatics forums.

I've done several civ2 succession games b4 and an Alpha Centauri one, so I don't lack experience...plus I've seen some of the best civ2 ones where some of the story telling was really top-notch.

:)

Civilisation: Romans

Difficulty: Monarchy

How many turns per player: 20 to begin with, reduce as the amount going on increases in later periods.

Crippled Civs?: off.

Start player: kittenOFchaos

Next player: whoever asks first! E-mail me at BAkittenOFchaos@aol.com

Rules:

1. Players should present a "reign summary" the nature of which I leave to the disgression of the individual players.

2. Destructive players who merely want to ruin the game will have their reign ignored and will be asked to leave. Please note this does not include people who are merely poor at the game or even new, the whole point to some degree of succession is to recreate the "good" "bad" and "ugly" rulers that history throws up. This is simply targetted at people who may wish to ruin the game.

3. Players should try to not take too long over their "reign"...I think 3 days is fine, longer if you ask for it and it is within reason e.g something came up or it is taking long or you are making a real effort with your "reign summary". The main thing is we know what is happening to prevent the game stalling.

4. Basically use disgression along the lines of "do to others as you would have done to yourself" and there should be no problems...

Numitor, King of Alba, had been ousted by his brutal brother Amulius. Amulius ensured Numitor would produce no heirs sending his only child -a daughter called Rhea- to be a vestal virgin in the temple of Venus (goddess of the hearth).

Rhea Silvia produced twin boys Romulus and Remus and Mars God of War was their father! Amulius fearful slew Rhea and threw her sons into the Tiber River.

The river bore the twins to safety ashore, where they were found by a she-wolf who raised them as her own till Faustulus a shepherd found them and adopted them as his own.

When the twins reahed manhood, Faustulus told them the fate of their mother...in anger Romulus and Remus killed Amulius and restored Numitor to the throne.

When the boys were grown, Faustulus told them who their father was and described their mother's fate. Romulus and Remus avenged he by killing Amulius.

Romulus and Remus set out to become Kings themselves and looked to found a city...Remus meeting his end by mocking Romulus's plans!

Rome was founded on Palatine Hill and was declared it to be a sanctuary. It filled with outlaws, refugees and fugitives who got protection if only to be ruled over by Romulus. By guile other tribes were plunder of their woman and so Romulus gained the power to control the lands around.

Romulus soon died as Mars his father had Jupiter make him a God to join him in the Heavens.

4000 B.C (1)

Kitulus a man of enormous girth and strength and his 10 equally powerful sons took power in Rome. To protect their reigme (one man has the vote) they start conscripting soldiers and hope to create an army of warriors that can extend Roman power beyond our borders.

Enemies of Kitulus are killed or forced to work constructing roads...the first project is to build roads to the south to bring wines and wheat more easily to Rome and to react to uprisings more quickly.

3950 B.C (2)

A deputation of "wise men" present themselves at "The Palace" begging sanctuary and showing what they are capable of. These men had fashioned many items that intrigued Kitulus...who saw how many of them may give his soldiers an edge over adversaries.

Using a fifth of his annual taxes he supports these men's research to uncover the secrets of the Universe, especially those enabling better weapons to be made. The "wise men" seek to fashion metal for war-like purposes to prove their worth.

3850 B.C (3)

The teams of workers complete a road that brings fine wines to Rome, a now intoxicated population revel!

More enemies of Kitulus are sent to extend the roads further south -in chains, the enemies, not the roads.

3750 B.C (5)

A large body of men are now available, not needed for the defense of Rome and without alternate labour prospects are armed and sent North to find treasure and new lands.

Traders in the Adriatic Sea report a large body of warriors on the far shore...towards this location Rome directs her warriors.
