Civ3/PTW editors gone?!

Has this happened to anyone else? After installing Conquests, the editors for Civ3 and PTW have been deleted from my computer. I still have Civ3mod.bic, but I get an error when I try to open it. Same problem for Civ3x.bix. Editor for Conquests works fine.

I'm wondering if Conquests did this, or if I accidently erased/uninstalled them myself.

I still have the editor from Civ3 vanilla, but not the one from PTW (admitedly, I uninstalled PTW and Civ3 when I got Conquest, to make a fresh Civ3 and Conquest installation).
I also have an error when trying to open civ3mod.bic with the regular civ3editor.
No trouble if opening civ3mod.bic with the Conquest editor, though.

It may be an an overzealous uninstall program.

Yep. I noticed from my BETA testing and from having multiple PTW installs that the uninstall for PTW and probably conquests are not set to share the files properly.

What the installer should do is mark all the shared files as such in the registry, and each program that wants to use it increments a number saying so. When the programs are uninstalled the counter is decremented and when that hits 0 the file can be removed.

Unfortunately the Install Engineer didn't bother to do any of this and so the first program to uninstall takes all the files that were meant to be shared.

You may of course have an unrelated problem, but if you uninstalled PTW or the BETA conquests at any point you will have had this problem.

Not, it's not an uninstaller problem.
I uninstalled PTW and Civ3 BEFORE reinstalling Civ3 and installing Conquest

What makes you think you should even have the PTW editor in the first place? You uninstalled PTW!

I just installed C3C when I got it. I left Civ3 and PTW on there and had no problems.

The fact that Conquest makes a "PTW" folder with a "Civilization3X" and a civ3X.bic inside

Yeah - maybe it does that so that it can function. I doubt they will give you anything except what is required to play the game...

In fact - I've worked it out! Those files are just the PTW 1.29 update to upgrade your PTW to 1.29!
