Civ4 Installshield keep closing

Hi Civfanatics

I found my Civilization 4 copy. When I tried to install it, Installshield wizard keep on closing at the part "Civilization 4 is preparing....." part and at around 1/4 of the progression bar the installshield just closes. No error message or hang time like others cases in the forum. I tried to follow instruction on how to install in Win7/Vista 64 (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=408537) but can't follow it because of the problem, the game won't install.

I tried to search for keyword in the forum (maybe not long enough though) but I found someone with the same case and he/she post deep in a thread so I think it was not answered or noticed.

Break down on the steps I did before the closing of Installshield wizard.
1. Insert CD
2. Browsed the CD for the Setup.exe
3. Right click and Run Administrator
4. Select Language
5. Problem - Installshield Wizard closes.

Computer Specs as to dxdiag
- Window 7 Ultimate 64bit
- Core 2 Quad 2.33 Ghz
- 4Gb RAM
- DirectX 11
- GeForce 9800 GT

I hope a Civfanactic can help me with my trouble (even just a link to the thread that can answer my dilema), I miss this game alot even I also play Civ5.

Update - I tried to install Civ3 and i was hoping it will install. But nope it did not and the same problem also happened just like in Civ4.

Is there something stopping for both the two Civilization not to install?

It seems that your cd has been damaged.

Have you tried backing it up to your pc? And ran the setup from there?

I tried to install Civ3 and i was hoping it will install. But nope it did not and the same problem also happened just like in Civ4.

Is there something stopping for both the two Civilization not to install?

Did you try to run an anti'virus? There might be something that hinders you from installing softwares.
Updated your installshield engine?

Worse, you might need to reinstall your 0S. Are you certain it doesn't go back to continue? Wait for few minutes and see.

Thank you for the reply again. As suggested I ran an antivirus but it found nothing. Update the install shield but it said it updated.

My conclusion is maybe the installshield wizard is down, because I tried to install another program and the same thing happened or a different scenario happens. Tried installing "empire earth" I just ask the language then the installshield just closes. Then after a few minutes "empire earth" is installed without the installshield showing the installation progression bar. Even the add and remove program can't uninstall programs.

My IT friend suggested that I aim in using the Windows OS Installler to repair, because in usually circumstances that will fix the installshield (so ifever anyone with the same problem try repairing your windows before jumping to reformat). But that process did not for me so I just go to the next best thing before format, use my backup and recover it. Now installshield is okay again and civ4 is running already

Me also, I thought "now what am I going to do this vacation?" (well i can play civ5 hahahaha)
