Yeah, I know. I am just trying to give 'em a chance. There must be some sort of strategy with them. But I agree though, it is hard to justify giving 3 terrain specific bonuses when 3 strength based bonuses help in all areas (and probably even competes with Guerilla in its own game anyway). I generally go for the Combat promotions myself.

Still, I hold faith that an effective Celtic Guerilla rush strategy exists.

Interesting. That definitely gives a much stronger incentive to beeline initially for animal husbandry instead of bronze working, especially with the potential to get sentry chariots from barracks/stables. BW/IW will still be the best by far for actually taking cities, but AH now looks excellent for pillaging and keeping an opponent weak until you're strong enough to start taking cities. I like the sound of that - opens up more alternative strategies.

One question: You said 100% *attack* vs axemen. Do you mean only attack, or when defending too?

Sounds like they're trying to standardize on UU's only being slightly more powerful than what they replace. Have they done anything to praetorians and skirmishers? (Both originally pretty overpowered IMO)

Only attack. Since you got me curious, here are some odds for unpromoted units according to which is attacking:

    Chariot vs. Axeman: 95.6% / 75.9%
    Grenadier vs. Rifleman : 76.3% / 71.2%
    Cavalry vs. Cannon: 98.8% / 24.9%
    Horse Archer vs. Catapult: 98.6% / 27.0%

I also noticed Jannisaries are +25% vs. archers, melee, and MOUNTED (not cavalry in particular)

Both are unchanged from the current Civ patch. Praetorians are 45 hammers, 5 more than swordsman, and Skirmishers are 1-2 first strikes (instead of 1) and strength 4.

 That is unexpected. So if the Axemen attacked first, then it would take out the Chariot with 75% chance huh? Hmm. That makes it a little interesting. I guess that gives a reason for Horse Archers to exist! Horse Archers become the pillagers now as the Chariots can easily get picked off by Spearmen AND Axemen.

Gherald, have I interpreted this correctly?

Gold not Commerce was the way i was thinking about it all the time, would have a been hard thing giving finical english leaders even more commerce.

Mall is Supermarket, not grocer. That's another thing thats Historicaly correct but get the US Civ's to the end of my choices again. The latest UB and UU in the game is hilarious. i almost never have to build supermarktes, only in a space race with isolating landmass.

Poor Washington lost everything in the Edxpansion, his traits and in the UU.

    Hi Guys,

Do we need to install Civ 4 first in order to install the Warlord expansion pack?

    Thanks

Cover, Shock, and Pinch promotions are available after Drill I (puts protective into perspective)
Formation is available after Drill II.

I love the game. I haven't been able to do anything else other than play the game. It seems much more competetive. The new Civs and traits are nice. I just played a game with all new Civs and it was like playing Civ IV when it first came out. I've been playing Civ since Civ I in 1991 and I will always give them a try.

I have seen some bugs: won't allow building West Point even though I have a unit with 6 promotions. Some movies don't play like Hermitage.

One of my favorite new features is finally being able to see all great specialists in the popup:

I obtained a copy of Warlords yesterday but am undecided whether I should open it now or save it for my birthday in September when I am camping and won't have a computer (or AC electricity)? Hmmm. Decisions. Decisions.

i read of many bugs in the expansion pack :(
it looks really appealing but i'm rather happy with the less buggy way cIV runs now.
    I will postpone somewhat...

Anyone else's Warlords expansion pack having these problems...
1.Cannot change civics or religion with the menu. (Unless asked by other nation or discovery of Tech)
2.Cannot view top 5 cities or wonders or statistics on who's winning.
3.Cannont keep playing after winning a scenario. (At least Peloponnesian)
4.Cannot view moods of other civs when communicating with them.
5.A lot of the things you build and resources don't mention their correct name they just say TEXT_RESOURCE_....or something like that.

I would like to know so I can find out if it's just mine and should get it replaced or if I am to become part of the great masses awaiting the next patch.

Also, even with original CIV4 I never saw movies for the minor wonders before and still don't. I just presumed there were none but somebody was asking where the movie for the Hermitage went. What movie?

Normally yes, but Financial doesn't build banks faster anymore

The only Civ to build the UB fast is the Zulus (Shaka's Aggressive lets him build all Barracks type buildings... including his UB which replaces the normal Barrack type building, better)
