all nice :D
however, the fact that france's longsword looks like same era as the german and english "sword" is anti-climatic....

well I thought it real good until I saw germany and england longswords... france's longsword then seemed... out-teched ?

it's due to france's helmet... and especially to england's sword having a shield instead of a bucler and having a colored surcoat with royal arms on it... (germany and france swords don't have any surcoats) : the only difference between england's sword and france's longsword (save the color of the surcoat and shield) is the metal greaves instead of leather boots..) .

but I really like your work :D

(plus isn't france supposed to have crossbows and not many longbows ? see battle of crecy ?)

Personally, I think the French swordsman is fine - He looks like a Frankish 'sword heerban' (sp? - What they were called in the 'barbarian' expansion to Rome: Total War) warrior from the end of the Roman era, which is about as modern as ALL swordsmen units should be...

So that brings up the real issue, that the English and German swordsmen are too modern, rather than the French one being too 'old fashion'. I can only refer back to the Rome:TW expansion as a source for inspiration...

I'm sure you are right.
I found the french sword and longsword very good...
it's just that french longswords looks same tech as english sword... and well... after that, in which direction it should/could/would be better to move... I'm not real good for this... and you said it better.
