My computer only has 1gb ram. will i still be able to play civ 5 except laggy or something?

If you start exceeding your available memory it'll probably be unplayably laggy, since it'll constantly be swapping stuff out from RAM to the hard drive.

1 GB isn't enough for games these days if you're running Vista or Win7.

I gig is not even enough for any OS to multitask apps together. Let alone play a game that is somewhat resourse intensive as well.

No, that is barely enough for a modern OS to run (except some Linux distros and OS X Tiger and OS X Leopard)

The OP has an appropriate username, because, it's sucks to be him.

Civ 5 requires 2G minimum (sys res linked at the top of the forum, or http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=374130). RAM is generally inexpensive IF your motherboard can handle more.

But, if you only have 1G and you're having to ask, then chances are you computer is underpowered in other was vs the min specs.

It might be possible to run with less than the min specs but the performance would probably be dreadful.

Nah, for some reason the only thing that isnt compatable with the minimum or reccomended system specs is my RAM for some reason... I guess when I got it custom made a few years ago with top of the line stuff for the time I neglected RAM for some reason.

Then you're in luck really, you can get decent-quality RAM on the cheap these days.
