Tired of dealing with the Steam Workshop? Me too. Here is the solution.

Civ5 Workshop Manager

All the Steam Workshop Civ5 mods in one easy to use utility. (5979 mods as of this post). View mod info, download mod files, update the list with new mods, update the list with updated mods.

Open In Workshop

Opens currently selected mod Steam Workshop page in your default browser.

Delete Mod

You know you will never install that mod? Just delete it from your mods database. If it is an old mod, it will never come back.

Civ5 Mods Folder

Opens the Civilization V mods folder in Windows Explorer.

Civ5WM Mods Folder

Opens the Civ5 Workshop Manager mods folder in Windows Explorer.

Update All

This will scan all the mods in the database, and attemp to download the first 8 bytes of each civ5mod file. If the attempt is succesful, the compression format of the civ5mod file is determined from those 8 bytes.

If there is an error, it means the mod has been updated with a new file, so the file details are downloaded again (the file details include the new file URL), and then again the first 8 bytes of the civ5mod file are donwloaded to check for a valid file URL and determine file format.

If the file has been updated, the modinfo file inside the civ5mod file is downloaded, to extract mod data from it (like mod guid, author, version, name, etc)

How is the modinfo file downloaded from the civ5mod file? If the file size is less than 2MB, the file is downloaded into a temp folder, the modinfo file extracted, and then the file is deleted.

Is the file is larger than 2MB, the civ5mod URL is posted to http://wobzip.org, and we get an URL to download just the modinfo file. (this is kind of slow)

Update New

Check the Workshop for new posted files (not updated files), adds them to the list, and downloads the mod data as described before.

Update Mod

Will download and update mod data for the selected mod. Use it to check if one mod has been updated.

Copy Mod URL

Copies the civ5mod file URL to the clipboard so you can use it anyway you want.

Download Mod

Will download the civ5mod file to the mods folder of the Civ5 Workshop Manager folder, not the mods folder of Civ5. The download is done in 1MB chunks if the server supports it, saving each chunk so in case of error the download can be resumed.

Once the civ5mod has been downloaded, the file contents will be extracted, and then zipped again to recreate the file. This is done to correct minor mistakes seen in the files. Check the Fileformat column: most files are 7-z as they should be, but some are RAR, others ZIP, and there is even one with a compact executable header.

One common problem is that the files are not stored in the root folder of the compressed file, but in a subfolder with the same name as the civ5mod file.

Other

The Log Window at the bottom displays information about the current actions been performed.

Right click a Column Header for a grid context menu. Clicking on a column header will sort ascending/ sort descending/no sort each column.

You can seek a mod name/ filename by typing the first few letters.

This will be a part of the Civ5 Mods Manager, but also available as a standalone program. I will post a download link soon. Any comments, suggestions, etc are welcomed.
