What does that even mean? Should be expect a streamlined version? One with a better UI optimized for tablets and phones? Or a full game port?

Please note that Civilization VII for Apple Arcade will not support multiplayer at launch, and will not receive any DLC seen in Civilization VII on other platforms. Post-launch updates that apply to other platforms may be excluded or delayed for Civilization VII on Apple Arcade.

In the FAQ it sounded like the missing features were related to multiplayer and progression so it sounds relatively fully featured. Not that I would play it unless it came to android.

IIRC, Apple Arcade is a feature where Apple provides a "storefront" or interface to play certain games. It's interesting that a game as complex as Civ7 could be offered thru the Apple Arcade.

Google has an analogous interface, I think, but I'm blanking on the name.

Google Play. I have it myself for some producivity apps and the occasional game.

According to the App Store description, the Arcade Version will not include multiplayer or any of the DLCs.

I hope Firaxis will continue to support the Mac Version via Steam, including all DLCs, and keep that up to date with the Windows Version.

There's nothing to suggest that they won't do so. The Arcade Version is a third-party app. The MacOS version is developed and supported directly by Firaxis.

No. Apple Arcade is a subscription service. And IIRC Apple has special restrictions on games for this service, for example no ads and no "pay to win".

I believe they do not allow any paid in-game purchases or DLCs at all in those Arcade games. And this may be a reason why many game publishers are not so keen on being part of Apple Arcade, since they will only get whatever revenue Apple is willing to share with them.

I hope so. My fear is that at some point they will outsource that as well and make the Arcade Edition the official Mac Version of the game. But I guess they could just maintain both. After all, with Civ VI they also had the Steam Version and a separate Mac App Store Version.

I wonder if this Arcade Edition will be an Apple exclusive, or if it will eventually be offered by other services like the games in Netflix (where Civ VI is available as well).
